Cal Poly Football Game at Weber State Moved to Oct. 5

The Mustangs' Big Sky Conference game this fall at Weber State, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, in Ogden, Utah, has been moved to Friday, Oct. 5. The time for the kickoff will be announced at a later date.

The game has been moved to avoid a conflict with the LDS General Conference, scheduled for Oct. 6-7.

I am in shock. Weber actually is taking into account the culture of the area and is rearranging things? Wow.

I remember hearing that in the future Weber's AD and SUU's AD wanted to move the Weber/SUU game to the friday before conference and hold the annual game at Rio Tinto, I wonder how that is panning out.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't really get too excited about playing at Rio Tinto. Personally, I'd rather have the game played at the teams home fields every other year, but there isn't any harm in trying something new. :kisswink:

How does the annual USU vs. BYU game affect this move? That game has been on that night for years. I hope that Weber will still get a good turnout on a Friday night. If it was SUU instead of Cal Poly, I'm guessing our crowd would be fairly good sized, but since most folks here in Utah don't know too much about Cal Poly (excellent school and solid football program) I'm thining a lot of people will stay home and watch Long Hair Nelson run around on TV instead of coming out and supporting the Cats. No matter, I hope a good crowd shows up, and it is pretty classy of Cal Poly to agree to this change.

Not to mention High School games. I wonder if they looked at playing on Thursday night.

For fans, like me, who have to drive over an hour to the games, Thursday nights would not work out well. Friday nights would be fine, however as I don't have to worry about work the next day.
