I have not booked yet, and still won't until it's closer. Hotel rooms are the least of my worries of what to get ahold of down there. There are so many neighboring towns with hotels that it's really not an issue.
However, when we went 3 years ago, we stayed at the Aloft Hotel in Plano, TX. Great place for good rates. Nothing like we pay up here it seems.

Yes, I have made reservations in Frisco and Mattoon for the Eastern Illinois game

The NCAA has reserved a block of rooms at the Westin in The Colony TX. I believe the Eagles stayed there last time we went. There was a reception the night before the game at the Cascade Event center between the Residence and Fairfield.
There is a Marriott Residence Inn https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/dalco-residence-inn-dallas-plano-the-colony/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and Fairfield Inn https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/daltc-fairfield-inn-and-suites-dallas-plano-the-colony/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; near the Westin. There is also a golf course there that is offering $59. green fees for the time we will be there. Good deal as green fees are normally over $100.
Not sure of the other hotel where one of the teams will be staying.
Also the Cotton Bowl will be played on Friday and last time some EWU fans toured Cowboy stadium and were very impressed.
Being in the hotel business I would recommend booking early, you can always cancel later if it does not work out.
