Furman - Austin Peay

Anyone else watching to scout out next week's opponent? Looks like a delay on the start due to lightning in the area...

Austin Peay is up 7-3 with about 10:29 left in the second quarter, with a long weather delay.

I'm surprised that 11-1 Central Connecticut State isn't putting up more of a fight. They're down 28-7 to Albany in the third quarter.

Monmouth is running it up on Holy Cross as expected, 37-19 in the fourth.

IL State is up 14-7 on SEMO nearing the half.

UNI is leading U of San Diego 7-0 nearing the half.

There’s been a couple delays, but I’m watching. Hard to get a great read with the crappy weather, but it might be crappy in sacramento too.

AP is really big and slow on the DL, I think we can get the edge and gas them pretty quickly. Their QB is like Eric Barrier light.

Furman runs a good looking option-heavy offense with a lot of rollouts and short play action routes (at least in the rain). We are a much more physically imposing team, and their tackles look like they would have their hands full with Obinna and Co. in passing situations.

Again, I think the rain and delays is affecting the quality of this game, but I really like our chances against either of these teams.

I agree. Not really sure which opponent would be preferred, but either one would be tough. AP is more athletic at the skilled positions that plays well into their spread read option offense. Furman is smash mouth option type of stuff. Hard to get a read on either defense.

AP up 21-3 with 11 to go in the 3rd. Unless they implode, I think this one is done. AP has some guys that can do some damage in open space. They also have some huge size on the interior of their lines. Should be an interesting game next week.

28-3 now. The AP boys are country strong. It’s raining so hard - just call this damn game.

I was hoping that this would be a dog fight and either Furman or Austin Peay comes in to SAC banged up. A blow out doesn’t really help us here. Austin Peay biggest strength seem to be their QB accuracy and his ability to scramble and make plays. Which is not good for the Hornets. They also have huge WRs which attacks our biggest flaw, DB play. So, hoping we just out scheme them, but an easy is not coming SAC’s way next weekend

I initially wanted AP, because Furman’s style scared me... but wow, AP is going to be a handful.

They are flying high right now. Hopefully the trip west and 9:00 EST kickoff messes with them lol.

Austin Peay reminds me of the Hornets with receivers like ours and dual threat RB’s, lots of RPO. Hard to get a read on their pass defense as that is not Forman’s strength.

Should be a good game.

42-6 AP in a rout. Furman didn't look that athletic, and with them being one dimensional AP stacked the box. The rain didn't seem to bother AP either, and that might come into play if it rains next week.

Another thing I noticed was that AP liked to engage in a lot of activity after the whistle. The Hornets will need to make sure they don't get sucked into that nonsense.

I noticed that too. Our guys are going to have to watch that they don't get sucked into picking up dead ball flags.

I didn’t get a chance to watch much of the game. In fact, I forgot about the early start west coast time and didn’t check it out til the afternoon but it had apparently been delayed for quite some time. I was too wrapped up in the Ohio State and Iron Bowl games.

However the little I saw, AP looked like they’ve got some fast, athletic playmakers on offense. Didn’t see enough to get a read on the defense.

I just hope the Hornets lines can dominate.
