Keep the MVFC games coming! Love watching our Eags play against each of those teams. I do still believe that the BSC and the MVFC are the top two conferences in the FCS. The MVFC is just loaded with great schools and teams.

Favorite game in recent history would easily be the NDSU game in 2010, obviously. The UNI game this past year was pretty fun to watch as well. Least favorite game would have to be when Big Play VA could not get a rhythm against the Red Birds in 2014's playoff, or was it the NDSU game this past September, orrrr was it Youngstown State a few months ago? Regardless, we have had some memorable games playing them recently. The UNI game last year, when Cooper got hurt, was also a memorable game. Sucked, but certainly worth watching. I guess you could say there is a lot of emotion that seems to go into games against MVFC games. Much more than when we play UC Davis, UNC, or some of our own conference's teams. Good, fun non-conference games. One FBS + one MVFC FCS team each season sounds like a good time to me. Just my two cents though!

At first thought I would say keep scheduling these instead of FBS games, but I think playing the FBS teams has really helped recruiting especially wins over (WSU and OSU), but yes keep these coming! :thumb:

Time to start beating some of these MVC teams. Our record against that conference is awful.

Why on Earth would we not have gotten Fordham on a home/home arrangement?

Love this. FCS counter against a mid to poor team from a good conference. Granted they could get a lot better in 3 years, but history would suggest otherwise.

This is a nice pickup, and surprisingly, we get the first home game of the series, that never happens!

Will be interesting to see what we do for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Besides our FBS games in those years, I don't think anything else has been announced. One or both of those years may also be a 12 game season....

This and the South Dakota game of 2011 are absolutely mind boggling...

In which way, other than the fact that we would get to see the Fordham team play at the Inferno, does it benefit EWU if it were a home and home instead? Will we not schedule a home game with another team the following year when we do not get another deal with another team? In the end, we will result with the same number of home games (i think?). I am playing devils advocate, because I feel the same as you. Having voiced that frustration to my wife, she countered me with that statement.

What I see as a benefit of a home and home instead of just one away game is that our series against that university will remain untainted as we both had home field advantage. We also get to cheer our Eags on against a team that they have either already played or will play, which would be mentally great for the team I would guess. With Fordham and SDSU, my frustration is simply that I wanted to see these two teams play in the Inferno because they are interesting universities and teams to me.

Does this also come down to a money issue? Do the home teams get more than the away teams just based on ticket sales?

Pretty much all of Eastern's FCS home-homes are a 50/50 split for both games. I'm assuming Fordham is just paying us an appearance fee. I can't imagine they can pay us enough to play a one game roadie. South Dakota paid us a whopping $50k, the same as we paid Montana-Western to come to Cheney.

Here is the problem that happens...our team has to play more road games when we schedule these damn one time games. More road games, means a more difficult path, tougher regular season, and can result in a lower seed, no seed, or even no playoffs...\

When you get a return game, at least the next year it gives you an extra home game. The bigger schools, such as NDSU, UM, MSU wouldn't think of scheduling something like this and if they did, the AD wouldn't last 2 days. We unfortunately don't have the money, so we have to make due, unfortunately what we've done in the past is either play 2 FBS games (which I'm worried may happen in 2018 or 2019) or we get bought out without a return game, its a joke for a program of our stature.

It is what it is at this point, its a huge $$$ thing for the university and unfortunately we don't bring in enough so we have to schedule games where we play in the Bronx and then don't get a return game...
