WOW a kid from Central Valley High in the Spokane Valley kicked a 67 yard FG last night. He has a partial offer from Eastern but it is on the national broadcasts. I saw it on ESPN, now it is on ABC. Hope we can keep him.

Not a great video clip but what a kick. Heard part of the first half on the radio-Larry Weir and Paul Sorenson do the weekly GSL game and of course they are terrific. Rehkow is more than a kicker-hope he plays in Cheney. I bet his family feels the same way as they can watch him play with minimal travel. We have always had good luck with CV kids as part of our football program.

Really cool to watch the local kid on Good Morning America. Good PR for our Eagle football program too.

What a bomb. I read somewhere a tee adds about 10 yards to the kick. Even given that, this kid crushed the ball. Hopefully he can keep it between the uprights consistently as well.

Local kids are the life-blood of a program and this guy certainly looks like a player.

Incredible.

What are the chances we could keep him though? I mean, coaches around the country have seen that video now and will want him.

SE174 is exactly right, this young man will no doubt receive offers from big-time BCS schools. The heart of our program has been great athletes who were passed over by FBS schools, this kid isn't in that category. We can only hope he wants to play close to home and get a great undergraduate education.

FWIW, he was at the game last night.
Really?? another missed opportunity. If they would have invited him onto the field (NCAA willing of course) and recognized him for his kick it would have been a HUGE ego boost and allegiance toward Eastern. These guys don't have a marketing molecule in their body!

Pretty sure there would be some sort of recruiting violation involved with doing something like that.

I don't remember if anyone mentioned it, but Larry Weir asked Baldwin about Austin/The Kick on the Coaches show Monday. Of course Baldwin couldn't really talk about Austin, but he said that Coach Graham texted him about it and he thought that the 67 yards was a typo, and maybe meant 57. Also said that it goes to show that our staff can spot talent.

His impressive feat has also had a few colleges calling. Washington State University and Idaho had shown interest in the past but quickly called to congratulate him after the game. BYU called to say they had some interest in his talents. So far no offers, but he's definitely on their radar now.

Hopefully he still chooses EWU, considering we were the first ones to express interest in him, before the kick. F*ck off WSU/Idaho. :ohno:
