Future Schedules?

Word on the street is that HFC at Fresno told Coach Walsh after the last PSU/FSU game that he would never play PSU again.

In 2003 PSU was statistically whipping their butts and FSU turned off the stats part of their scoreboard during the 3rd quarter. And in 2004 the game was much closer than FSU would have liked.

I remember that scoreboard deal...

I really thought that we were going to take that one...

Isn't Fresno State's motto "we will play anyone anywhere anytime"?

Now they don't wanna play us?

They have a nice program though. And they scare alot of the ranked teams.

I'd love to see Cal Poly come to Portland and play PSU. I went to Poly for my undergrad and got my Masters at PSU, so these are my favorite IAA teams. Plus I now live in Portland so I'd love to be able to go to the game.

Both programs are strong and I think it would be a great game. There are more Cal Poly alums in PDX than I would have imagined, so I think there's a good chance that there would be a decent crowd for the game.

I wish june jones would bring the hawaii warriors over to play psu.
There just might be more hawaii fan than psu fan at the game.

I would love to see this as well. A ranked D1-AA team coming in prior to opening BSC play would be fantastic.

WAC Commissioner Karl Benson has come out publically with a declaration, supposedly with buy-in from the schools, that WAC teams will play only one 1-AA team per year at most, and NEVER

The WAC wants to improve their standing with the BCS. The design here is to improve strength of schedule without having a body bag schedule, because the system rewards some strength of schedule, but values wins more. It's a tough balance. In the WAC view, 1-AA is a hindrance, and an option only of last resort (which, for the most part, it has been for the last several years anyway).

There's also the issue of, for instance, Boise State getting where they've got only to be about 3,000 tickets short of a sellout for Sacramento State, partially because Sac is 1-AA, partially because it's a Thursday so that Boise doesn't have a short week going into next week.

Of course, sometimes, the best response should be "like you should talk." San Jose doesn't draw well for ANY sport. Idaho and New Mexico State aren't exactly the shining outposts of college athletics (though NMSU does have some basketball background). Just about everyone except Boise and Fresno are easy tickets to get.Last edited by on 2006-08-29, 09:54

I have noticed the WAC playing bigger schools lately, La Tech playing Miami, Hawaii playing USC, going to Alabama, Fresno going to LSU, your paragraph makes alot of sense, good post Pounder

that's alright our schedule has enough D-IA schools anyway, they more we win or come close to winning, the more the schools won't want to play us
