Future Schedules

There are a lot of valid points regarding our scheduling challenges. And after the gauntlet of this season, it would've been nice to have an easier road next year (which I do think Fordham should be a win). But, do you think the Griz game would've been closer and tougher if they tested themselves a little harder with their OOC games? They had UNI, but St Francis and MVST, coupled with a mediocre conference schedule showed they weren't ready. They've been beat by all three good teams they've played. I wonder how much of it was them being lulled into a false sense of confidence.

Along those lines, it's funny to hear how often their D was touted as so strong. Of course they were...against lackluster competition.
If/when the BigSky goes to 9 conference games cuts the options down to two. If one of them is a cupcake does that hurt?

I was curious as to how the Fordham fans felt about playing a directional school such as Eastern Washington University, so I went to their fan forum and checked it out. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I did not find one single fan on their thread that was disrespectful toward our school. They had plenty of respect for what Eastern has built. It seems as though they have the most interest in scheduling FBS, Ivy League (Fordham is a nice, exclusive private school as well), and top-tier FCS (EWU) in their non-conference games.

Looking forward to this game! :thumb:

When I graduated from college, I lived with a guy during my internship who was a wide receiver at Fordham in the late 90s. He was their leading receiver and had about as much athletic talent as a turtle. It made me think Fordham was a joke. It sounds like they've improved a lot since then.

Now that we are where we are, I for one am glad we had the schedule we did. Of course we could have lost another game but, except for a missed field goal, we could be 10-0. With a weaker schedule and no losses would we in the running for a top 4 seed?

It says that it's unlikely to move, but you have to wonder if Chaves is scrambling for a backup option just in case.
We'd have nowhere to move it to... the only way to make a change would be for them to buy us out. I have no idea where that would leave them contractually, but my guess is about $300k.

We'll be the first to play on the new turf @ Jones field.

I wonder if they took care of the cockroach problem in the stadium...

This game just got more interesting as returning QB gets another year of eligibility on top of returning their good RB.. Should be fun?

I guess if we really think we can beat TT the first game of the season, this should be "no problem"
Wouldn't write Fordham off after the challenging opening games and extensive travel. Their offensive backfield is no joke. Not to mention the next game is the Griz. Talk about possible distraction. Don't think TT or NDSU are coin flips either.

The team is deep and it will be interesting to see how all the coaching changes impact early play. Who will be the team leaders? Expect Havili, Tiuli, Fettig and Webster on defense. Heart of hearts says the defense will be even better this year as the coaches have had a year together and the players have seen what they are capable of. A 2-2 start could be seen as a victory given all the challenges.

Please forgive me if this posting's in the wrong thread, I'm still new on this board. Does anyone know yet what day the Spring Game is scheduled for? My son was recently admitted to EWU for Fall 2017 and he received an email inviting him to come over for one of the preview days for admitted students. I'm hoping one of them coincides with the date of the Spring game...while Junior's learning what's where and such on campus, maybe dad will check out the game.

Welcome. I don't think the date for the Spring game has been posted yet.

I agree, 2-2 is the bare minimum we need to be a legit playoff contender. I hate the way we schedule in September because we give ourselves no outs. I really liked the idea of playing Fordham as a home-home. I don't understand it, though, without a return trip.

Hey Lucky, what's the scoop with Kennesaw State? It sounds like they are dumping money into that program. Do they plan on doing the GA State routine and hang out in the FCs until trying to move up in the near future? Or are they planning to stick around a while? They seem like a good fit for a decimated SoCon or Big South. I have no idea why schools from that area all think they want to move up and hope to be 7-5 and playing in some midday, mid-week bowl in December on ESPNU.

Ok, thank you. I'll keep on the lookout for the date. And with the Good Lord willing, hopefully my boy will be playing on the RED at some point. High School grades haven't been the greatest, but he DID get in and that's key. Second was the guy being looked at ahead of him has committed somewhere else. I'm just hoping he gets the call (or text or email) that says they want him!
