Game Day Festivities

There is a very small, but enthusiastic group from Texas coming to the game. We need your help on where and when to go. There is a Roos field dedication or something and we need tailgate and party information. I know some of you are going to say, it's all been posted on here before, but please be more specific. If you were us, where and when exactly should we go to enjoy the whole Cheney and game experience? Tailgate info should include where adult beverages can be enjoyed. Any parties we should attend etc. We'll be arriving early Friday.

I only make it to one, maybe two home games a year now that I don't live in the state, but the upper parking lot is always the place to be. It seem like more people are tailgating earlier than ever these days. Last year at homecoming the lot was full by like 930am, if you want to be guaranteed a spot, have someone show up with the car by 8am or earlier, with the griz in town, all bets are off. there is a line down the middle of this parking lot, as long as you're west of this line, and drinking out of a keg cup, cops will no hassle you. If you are seen with an open beer, you could be subject to a ticket and/or arrest. Cheney only has a few bars in town and I'm sure all of them will be cracking by late that night. Again, I don't live in town, but here is how it usually goes.

Goofy's, The basement, Bill's Tavern - mostly college kids. (though went i went to Eastern Bills was a shithole old man bar, but then it burnt down and was rebuilt into a propper watering hole.
The Eagles Pub (formally Showies) - 10 years ago, this place was mostly filled with college kids, but the owner is an asshole, started charging a cover on big nights, and is just a general prick, these days this bar is mostly filled with 40+ year old locals, but i believe they have karaoke on Friday nights, if that's your thing.
there are always good bars in Spokane, the bar scene is pretty good (what else is there to do on a Friday night in Spokane? :)). I'll let one of the other guys tell you where to go there, as bars are always opening and closing there.

As always, house parties are easy to find, just make some buddies in the tailgate area, you'll certainly find a lot more if we happen to beat the Griz.

The best breakfast in Cheney is at Willow Springs, which at least used to be owned by the same prick that owns the Eagles Pub, but even better, bring up something to eat to the tailgate area.

PM me if you want when you're up in Cheney, I'd love to meet you. I should also be tailgating in the upper parking lot, I’ll be there early.

Thanks E-dub, I'm hoping other fans will have more information. Where does everyone go after the game? Especially, if we win? Looking forward to meeting everyone. I'll be wearing a white football jersey with number 9 and Mitchell on the back, Katy on the front. (sorry I don't have an EWU jersey yet). I'll be with MLR and his son Trey and my son Patrick, who lives in Cheney.

The Official Red Turf Tailgate Party will be held at Northern Quest Resort and Casino on Friday night starting at 6:30. Here's a link for tickets. $20, but should be a lot of fun and there will be plenty of Eagles (and Grizzlies) there. http://goeags.com/boosters/ewas-events. ... rftailgate

Don't know where you are staying, but if you are in downtown Spokane and want to bring food to the stadium for your tailgate, I would recommend Domini's if you want to bring sandwiches as they are awesome...located on the 700 block of West Sprague.

Also on West Sprague, on the 400 block, is Chicken n' Mo. Which as is close to Southern cooking as you can get up here. My southern friends are very picky on what passes as good food and this has passed their test. Sauce is spicy and sweet...get some ribs or fried chicken (or both) and you'll be set.

I would get there EARLY. 1pm at the latest. Upper lot is best if there are spots available when you arrive. This stadium really was designed for 5,000-6,000 people (parking, concessions, restrooms) and there will be double or nearly double that amount there Saturday. So bring patience and figure you will spend plenty of time standing in lines.

Once in the stadium, Bob and Ray's Beer Garden is a good place to be. Money raised there goes to the Eagle Athletic Association for scholarship costs. Can't see the game from there, but you can get a cold beverage.

After the game, Bill's Longbar Saloon is my favorite but there's not much in the way of food there. The best food in Cheney is at Mexican restaurants. Corona Village is very good...the other two are OK, not great. Oh yeah, forgot about Lenny's. Pretty good Italian place. No real good place to get a steak in Cheney that I'm aware of.

The Watcher and EDub pretty much covered everything. The Basement (bar) is having a pre and post game party.
"315 1st St. Cheney Wa. Gonna be a blast Students Alumni.....Anyone! Come and get started with our annual Bloody Mary Bar before the game! After join us for the celebration! This is a great event every other year. The Basement is a EWU alumni locally owned bar! Official Rally starts at 10:00 am!" They also say there will be buses to and from the game.

I'll probably start out there and then spend the rest of the day in P12 (tailgating parking lot behind the stadium) before the game. Not sure about after yet.

Or if you're an EAA member with enough donation money, you can get into the EAA area where you can buy beer AND watch the game at the same time;) Just an FYI to encourage all to donate to the EAA!

I'll keep an eye out for you, maybe i can buy you a beer or two.

Let me ask this, what do I do with two 16 year old high school players before and after the game? The Holiday Inn Express filled up fast so we're staying at the "luxurious" Willow Spring Motel. I'm inclined to have an adult beverage (or two) but where can I do that with them in tow? Or, where can I send them to keep them busy...! Coming over early Saturday (they have a game on Friday) and leaving Sunday...

Head over to the GRIZ section. thats where the actual tailgate is. And thanks for traveling up to Eastern Washington Grizzly Stadium.

or like eastern calls it "THE PAD"

It might as well be EWGS, considering how many griz fans donated to the EAA or bought season tickets!  We appreciate your support, and for the Griz so graciously being the first team to lose on the new turf. Great people those Montanadians are! Good on you sirs! :D

I don't think there is an age limit in the EAA venue... you can bring kids with you, but obviously they'll get tossed for drinking.

oh man, you'll need a drink to stay at willow springs:) they can hang before the game in the tailgate area for sure. after the game, I dunno, not much to do in Cheney, maybe send them into Spokane.

Yeah, you may want to rethink those hotel plans - it's not so far to stay at one of the hotels around the airport. Then you're between Cheney and Spokane. Of course, when available, the Holiday Inn is the most convenient to visit with your kid but convenience is overrated if it means choosing the Willow!

The new restaurant "Immix" is far and away the best food in Cheney with Steaks, seafood, pasta and a nice wine bar with local craft ales. It's on 2nd street in the Downtown area.

Pepper Tree inn off of exit 273 is about 10 minutes from the stadium.

The Cheney bar scene has improved a bunch since I was in school.
