Well Harding had a bad game, but you aren’t going to win many games when you get outrebounded by 13 and the other team has 9 more shots. Weber State doesn’t have the sharp shooters like they have in the past, and I’m not sure the talent is what I originally thought it was. If they do, talent won’t go very far without energy and attention to details.

Starting to look like the collapse at the end of the season like last year.

Really hard to watch us struggle so much from 3 since we are usually so good. I also thought this team would be better but a lot of my opinion rested on the Chapman/Harding combo. Neither has consistently played up to expectations this year. They can really look good for awhile and then disappear for long stretches. Not too thrilled looking at next year's potential lineup either. That was an ugly team last night. We go what, 1-5 in state and the lone win is the Y. Go figure that one out ...

The thing I also notice is the lack of role players or scrappers. Past teams had hustle players that stood out on defense with hands up and waving or to the side blocking passing lanes and were all over the court. This team the guards often leave the rebounding area before their shot is even halfway to the basket. It seems like opponents have players wide open from missed assignments or low effort.

Even with great three point shooting, you can’t win that way, but Weber State has been cold from the three point line. Bamforth and Lillard could make quick release shots with players all over them. It seems this team can’t even make most wide open no contention shots.

Add to this the fact injuries are starting to total up, and it looks like repeat of last year’s finish. Rahe needs to find a way get his players to play 100% in all aspects of the game every game or it looks like Weber State is in for a decline while he rides out the remainder of his contract, and Weber State has too proud a basketball tradition to be okay with that.

This team is full of individuals who are worried about stats. The offense is stagnant and dependent on either breaking down opposing guards or jacking threes. Defense is sloppy and confused. We have a couple of guys buying in, but some are just not good. Have I mentioned our bigs aren't being developed? Finally, there are no glu guys or blue collar basketball players on this team. We have a bunch of athletes but lack actual basketball players. I'd take Nick Hansen or Kyle Bullinger over Cody John any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It is ugly, lazy, selfish basketball.

I was chatting with a guy today who said it best, Weber State Basketball is a top tier team in a low major conference. In other words, Weber State Basketball is just above mediocre. Wasn't there a plan to follow the Gonzaga model with Rahe as our coach? Weren't we supposed to become a dominant juggernaut where the rest of the Sky would be forced to follow? What is the point of investing hundreds of thousands of dollars on a coach who can't beat SUU? Rahe makes 350K (probably more), has the biggest recruiting budget, best facilities, most resources, biggest fan base and he can't beat SUU? I am a fan of Rahe the man and think he is a good coach. He has accomplished a lot while at Weber State, but evidently his passion has waned and he knows he is safe in his job. To me, he should be embarrassed and give money back. This is a small school with a rich traditional. We are proud of our basketball and our guys are just going through the motions. Last night it really seemed as if they could care less about the game and were only worried about their stats. Like I said, I like Rahe, but the guy hit his ceiling a few years ago and since then it has been hard to watch his teams. The passion is gone. The players are soft, and the guys are individuals on a barely above mediocre team.

Take the wins away vs Bethesda, Benedictine, and Delaware State and the Wildcats are 11-9. That is mediocre. Might need to water down the schedules.
