Game day

Total waste. Think about this, with the game tied, we gave them three straight possession that started inside of midfield. Two were bad punts (what's new?) and one turnover on a kickoff. And bada boom, we're down 17 and the game is effectively over. You can point to how the offense was completely ineffectual (true) or how the defense wore out and couldn't stop the Griz (also true), but damn those are self-inflicted wounds caused by shitty special teams play.

The issue of being decent in a first half and then watching the wheels fall off in the second half just keeps surfacing. Teams see the "old" Barriere on film and start the game respecting his feet. But when he never takes off unless it's a completely busted play with no good outcome, they stop worrying about marking him and just settle in.

Offense: Overall Grade (F); OC gets an F(-) for play calling. Zone read when we're 17 points down?

Defense: C; they did not play well but they were defending short fields most of the game because of the above.

Special teams: F!!! Our punting needs to improve dramatically and the turnover during a critical part of the game was completely unacceptable. Who is our special teams coordinator?

Funny, just a suggestion when you make a hard working young man the but of a nasty joke, maybe you should get to know a little bit about him. I don't care to get to know someone like you,nor do I care to lower myself to your level . I don't know a lot about football, but I proudly served my country, as a Infantry officer in the United States Army. That young man, #69 is my son. He's worked extreemely hard for 5 years to earn a place on this team. Im proud he chose to go to school here and earn a degree from this fine University. I thought this might be a place to learn a little bit about football but guess I was wrong. If anyone sould be the butt of a joke it should be your fan base, your just as bad as vandals , youall leave at halftime!

I think it was more of a joke about how the whole team played. Not one person.

IdaEag92...I didn't see that as a direct hit on your son nor his number, more of a collective effort of a team that has underachieved thus far. When I see 69 my rotted mind takes me to a different place anyway.

I saw it as a cheap shot on a player, happens all the time on blogs. Hiding behind a screen name gives us the courage to say things we never would in person. It was a cheap shot on a kid, a kid that has worked for 5 years all year long to make his team better and here comes an internet blogger kicking him when he is down, pretty low!
I am not an exception to that myself, it is too easy to shoot out a message we may later regret but oh well, it just a blog. But words can hurt, show some respect.
I apologize to IdaEag because I doubt lucky will. All fans are not so mean as he is.
Go Eagles!!

I read a lot of comments on halftime adjustments, play calling, etc... but I’m not sure I see this as the problem. Most of our offense is predicated on making reads, and we just don’t make them properly. It’s not that the offense itself is fatally flawed, it’s that the execution is brutally bad. On top of that, it seems like we absolve the QB from doing the things he used to do that made us so successful by calling his own number on the read. I have no clue whether this is something he’s being asked to do, but I’d guess the coaches have to be frustrated by this; I can’t imagine it’s by design to never have him take the ball.

As it relates to adjustments, I don’t see that as a big issue either. We didn’t change much up in the second half nor did Montana. The only thing I saw differently is that they completely stopped keying the QB with their defense. Really, We just ran out of gas. It was wash, rinse, repeat from all our other games. We aren’t physical to hang in there and after a team bangs on us for a bit, we soften up and fall apart. It’s almost a weekly script, we start the game looking perfectly competitive, the other team just keeps hitting us, and we can’t take it and by the second half we stop fighting.

Know one called out any player, it's a comedic clip were the cheerleaders are chanting 69 is divine and most of us are familiar with the movie to know what a cluster this imaginary game was. Will is a fine player and young man. Had three sons play, two OL and know how hard these players work. Nothing wrong with the Eastern fan base, you should know that by now.

Feel free to list all the times in nearly 10 years I've taken cheap shots at players... go ahead. You should actually look a little closer at Ida's comments... seems like he's using his anonymity to tell a story. Could be wrong, but there are a number of inconsistencies with being an adult over 45. Talks about himself before mentioning #69 is his son. Never uses his son's name. Talks about a military career. Appeal to sentimentality. Indicting a fan base his son has been a part of for better than 5 years. None of this lends credence to his story. Thanks for your support Clawman, good to see you can put aside your malice and mend fences. :sarcasm:

After the 2010 National Championship didn't we go like 6 and 5 ??? So this is just a hangover of sorts...Build the stadium and we will dominate again. Go Eags !!!!

Nope. Can't control idiots but endeavoring to remain civil to a good fan/s despite differences of opinion, perspective and gaps in knowledge.
