Watched the second half when Portland came back from 17 down. He kind of got off to a slow start (1-9), but came back strong to finish 9-21 which means he he was 8-12 during the second half and had 4 assists & 4 rebounds to go with that 25 points. He attacked the basket very effectively against NBA talent just like he did at Weber. With Portland up by 3 with about 19 or so seconds left & the shot clock counting down, Damian hit a contested three to put the Blazers up by 6. He did miss two free throws with a few seconds left which could have sealed it (after Charlotte got an old fashioned three point play,) but then he forced Duke's Austin Rivers into badly missing a 3pointer which would have tied it. All in all, a great way to celebrate his 22nd birthday. :thumb:

A perspective of a opposing teams fan: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/austin-rivers-scores-14-orleans-hornets-summer-league-054300890--nba.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. NO I don't like what he said about Weber if anything it should be proof that Weber and the Big Sky aren't terrible basketball venues or destinations. Great? No, but not terrible, like a lot of analysts have implied or infered.

I was talking with a die hard Y fan about Lillard over the weekend and he said something extremely interesting. He said that Lillard is proof of how solid Weber State's basketball program is. He said, and I thoroughly agree, that players like Lillard are far more prepared for the NBA, because they have learned how hard they have to work to succeed on that level. Just look at the number of players that come out of major programs on a yearly basis that flop. Because of coming to Weber, it made Lillard work that much harder, which helped him be that much better prepared and committed to his dream. It was a perfect match between Lillard and Weber State.

Looked like Austin Rivers was talking a lot of smack. Yeah, Lillard definitely is the better player.

My man-crush on Lillard just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I think the Blazers may be my favorite team this year with Lillard, Matthews and now Ronnie Price! Price and Matthews were some of my favorites when they were playing for the Jazz. I read an article that said Price and Lillard were off season work out buddies. I thought that was pretty cool!

Check out the sweet slam over the big man during the second half highlights.

Sick dunk by the Fly Guy!! I can't wait for the next Des News write up about Jimmer, I'll definitely make some comments. Dick Harmon needs to get a clue.

The Blazers must have some Utah love. They have had Andre Miller (UofU), Danny Ainge (BYU), now Damian Lillard (Weber), and Ronnie Price (UVU).

I know this sounds a little crazy right now, but I can't help but compare DLill to Brandon Roy - I know, I know, they play different positions, but Damien carries himself with that same quiet confidence, has the ability to punish defenders at the basket while maintaining control, and has that uncanny skill of getting his defender off balance to drain the long jumper. And as a long time Blazer fan, I think he'll end up a better defender than Roy.

Having said all that, I'm an even bigger Viking football fan and am a bit saddened that we have to wait until 2013 to spank the Cats

Good luck on the gridiron this year - Especially Sept 22 & Nov 3 !

If the jazz get jimmer in a trade, I can no longer cheer for the jazz (no way I can cheer for a zoobie, especially a poser like jimmer). My favorite team right now is the blazers!

Man....., I have got to pull some strings and get ticks when Portland comes to town.

I thought that Dame would do well, but I never expected the kind of dominance he is showing. He is making the first five picks look questionable right now.

Also, I hope Jimmy Bob gets on with a team that can use his skills. The Jazz are actually a better fit than where he is now. He is a tweener who can shoot the lights out. I don't think he will ever be a starter, but with his shooting ability, he can be a role player for a long time in the NBA.

I've watched all of the summer league games I can. The game last night against Denver had Reggie Miller as the commentator. Miller said several times throughout the game that Damian was the class of the summer league and the best player in it. They had Damian on the post game interview and Miller told Damian what he had mentioned several times on air, that he was the best player in the summer league. He also asked Dame where he learned some of his moves & Damian credited his coaches in college for teaching him about changing speed & other things. Damian is right handed, but the announcer thought he was left handed because he moves so effectively to his left to which Damian gave credit to his dad for making him and his brother do everything with their left hand so they became just as good with their left hand as they were with their right. In the interview Damian demonstrated a humble confidence that is so rare among players today. Also, he was very articulate & precise in his answers. You know how so often when a reporter asks an athlete a question, they respond with an obvious pre-rehearsed response which totally ignores the question that was asked. He didn't. he listened to the question and then answered it precisely and articulately. Quite frankly, it was one of the best interviews I've ever seen with an athlete on any level.
