Game-high 25 in Lillard's NBA debut. Nice!

I've watched all of the summer league games I can. The game last night against Denver had Reggie Miller as the commentator. Miller said several times throughout the game that Damian was the class of the summer league and the best player in it. They had Damian on the post game interview and Miller told Damian what he had mentioned several times on air, that he was the best player in the summer league. He also asked Dame where he learned some of his moves & Damian credited his coaches in college for teaching him about changing speed & other things. Damian is right handed, but the announcer thought he was left handed because he moves so effectively to his left to which Damian gave credit to his dad for making him and his brother do everything with their left hand so they became just as good with their left hand as they were with their right. In the interview Damian demonstrated a humble confidence that is so rare among players today. Also, he was very articulate & precise in his answers. You know how so often when a reporter asks an athlete a question, they respond with an obvious pre-rehearsed response which totally ignores the question that was asked. He didn't. he listened to the question and then answered it precisely and articulately. Quite frankly, it was one of the best interviews I've ever seen with an athlete on any level.

Lillard is MVP, and also 1st runner up for best highlight with his huge dunk over Keith Benson

LOL at what the great Jimmer won

Did you see what was at the bottom of the ESPN page?   They take a shot at Jimmer. It isn't that I dislike Jimmer or anything. I think he is a good basketball player and I hope he is successful. I just can't stand the locals and their obsession with him, especially the SL media. I guess we won't see anything about Lillard in the Des News or Trib.

Ricky Rubio Award
(For person I was most excited to see)

Henson
John Henson, Milwaukee Bucks

Henson is as lanky as he is awkward-looking when he's walking around a basketball court, but put him in the game and he starts making everything look graceful and destructive for his opponents. Henson was like watching a condor learn how to fly and develop a solid jumper. Condors do that, right?

Runner-up: Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards

Jimmer Fredette Award
(For player who should be taken off summer league promotions)

Fredette
Jimmer Fredette, Sacramento Kings

People knew Jimmer was going to let the shots fly no matter what halfway through his second game and it never really slowed down. He shot just 35.8 percent throughout the week and made a lot of folks giggle whenever they saw him on the posters and murals around the arena.

Runner-up: Mario Chalmers, Miami Heat (for some reason, he's on posters around the arena)
