Going Back to "UNC"

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but the university is considering changing logos (again), and this might mean shedding the "NC" and and going back to "UNC." I for one like this move. We need to get back to what we are. That's the University of Northern Colorado. It means that this is a good place to play football and it means it's a good place to get a degree. Lets get back to what we are. Here's the results of the study.

Good news. "NC" never seemed to take. Face it, nobody is going to confuse us with the University of North Carolina anyway.

I do wonder what name the current students (and recent grads) identify with.

I believe the NC on the helmet logo was a Coach Downing idea so will not miss it. Initials seem to be specific at a region anyhow . If you say OU in Oklahoma they know that's the Sooners but if in Oregon they believe you are talking the Ducks and many others to numerous to mention. I always have liked the stacked UNC mainly because it bring back memories of the National Championship teams.

To Brian, I graduated last May. It's still very much considered "UNC" by current students. Honestly, I hadn't even heard any fellow student or staff member refer to it as "NC". Even my friends from my hometown who didn't attend the school refer to it as UNC. No matter what the official acronym may be, I get the sense it will always be the way it has and always should.. U-N-C.

Thanks for the info. I have to remind myself that it's been almost 19 years since I graduated. Time really fly's.

I'm not a big fan of changing logos. In my opinion you're better off keeping what you have and worrying more about other more important things. Not a single shortcoming the university might have has anything to do with the logos. The success of the university in sports or whatever makes the logo good not the marketing angles behind it. In fact changing all the time just makes them seem more like the rudderless ship they appear to be.

Just my opinon.
