Golden and Costen Gone

Not a huge surprise here. They both seem like good guys and teammates, but just didn't work out. I actually thought Golden was playing much better the last 6-7 games. I was kind of hoping he would be back next year, but I think Dusty Baker in the long run is a upgrade. Costen played his butt off, but was too small to play PF and not skilled enough to play SF. If he was 4-5 inches taller, I think he would be just fine. Hope they both land on their feet and are able to have great SR seasons. I wonder who the 3rd player will be? I also noticed on this list that Wiggs from Idaho is gone. He was a really good player I thought. That means Idaho is losing 4 starters next year. Their coach seems like a total A HOLE so I'm glad they will suck. Here is the link to all current transfers. They seem to update it every day.

More recruiting misses for Rahe & staff.

The amount of wasted energy, time, resources to bring in kids for 1 year or even 2 in some cases is mind boggling. Do your damn due diligence & be a whole lot more certain before you committ to these players, and convince them to move to Ogden. To be uprooted, & counseled out after 12 months is horrible. I'm not saying they shouldn't be moving on, what I am saying is they should have never been here in the first place, and that is on Rahe.

Have you ever heard of the NBA draft, or the NFL draft? These guys spend WAY more money doing research and etc.. YET still get it wrong a lot of the time...
My point is that recruiting isn't an exact science so perhaps you should get off of the coaches back about this. :twocents:

The problem is, every year coaches hope to improve upon what they have and players decide Weber isn't for them. It's not just under Rahe. Take a moment to look over the rosters dating back over 20 years on the weberstatesports website: http://www.weberstatesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=8600&SPID=3470&SPSID=39379" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Each year there are one or two or three underclassmen who aren't back the next year.

Welcome to recruiting 101. Potential is the word and you have to bite the apple to really get a taste! It's the ugly part of the business, but you have to take the chance!
Would take 4 missteps to 1 Damian Lilliard!

Every program misses on players. It is a bummer that we lost the entire Fields, Brown & Wheelwright class. I remember some of us saying that was going to be the best class in Weber State history.

And likewise last season we were all pretty high on Golden being the next Scotty B. From the first time I saw Johnson-Coston I knew that was a mistake. You could tell that he wasn't really 6'6 and couldn't play effectively in the post.

Looks like we will have one senior again for next year!

So what. We also have Hill, Gittens, and Seglin who have played significant minutes for 2 years. They are veterans as far as college basketball goes.

I you only have one senior each year, you can keep the young and inexperienced excuse going forever. You know what the best way to fix a young and inexperienced team is? Too get younger by letting go of two players that would be seniors next year. I am not saying it wasn't the right move. I just wish we heard more accountability from coach about not having the right pieces in the system.

I'm just hoping for a good team next year...... we have the pieces........ I just hope we have the right attitude. I know Coach Rahe can't wait for the season to start after what he endured this season!
