Graham a finalist at Central Washington

(Same response on another topic)

Although I don't necessarily agree with Graham's soft defensive strategy (I'm an aggressive smash mouth defense kind of guy), I hate to see him go. He is a good coach. On the flip side though, now isn't a terrible time to transition to a new defensive coordinator. Our defense is in rebuild mode which will help a transition.

Looking at his resume, I am confident he will get the job. Congratulations to him if he does, and I will wish him the best pursuing his dreams as a head coach.

Really sorry to hear this. He has been outstanding for Eastern but as they say to the players, "next man up".

As I mentioned in a previous post, I think he'd be a good hire for them.

I don't think it hurts Eastern too much when coaches leave. The more it looks like Cheney is a base of upward mobility, the more likely Eastern can recruit talented coaches in the future.

Had it not been for Wulff's spectacular flame-out in Pullman, I suspect we'd have lost some of our guys earlier.

Graham makes great halftime adjustments and I believe our defense has consistently improved throughout the season. If he gets the Central job I wish him the best.

Good for Coach G, but I wonder what kind of impact this potential hire will have on our defense. Will any position coaches go with him? Players often relate more to their positional coaches that recruited them.

I don't think that Central Washington is going to have salary offers that will draw away our assistants. That would more likely occur in FCS or FBS schools.

True, but there's nothing saying that he wouldn't take, say, a LB coach and make him DC on his new staff. Just using that as an example.

How much more would the HC @ Central make vs the Asst head coach and DQ at Eastern? Wondering if he just wants the title or the money?
It is my understanding the decision makers @ Eastern will be opening the checkbook at the end of this season.
How open is always the question.

+1 Didn't mean to make you reach for the nitroglycerin capsules. I did mean Sears might be available to CWU under Coach Graham as a very poor joke. I truly wouldn't wish Sears on Graham or any program I follow. Mentioned when John L Smith left Weber for short stint at Arkansas, that putting Sears in charge was a baddddd idea. At least, they didn't take forever to realize it.
