Congratulations Athletes, Coaches and Staff.

This was an excellent evening of celebration showcasing the high quality people who call themselves Hornets, with a special nod to the Football Program for it's significant contribution.

MALE SENIOR SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR -
Augie Heath - Football :thumb:
Given to the male senior with the highest overall grade point average. Heath graduated in May with a degree in Business Finance.

MALE SENIOR STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR -
Zack Nash - Football
Nominated by coaches for having the best academic and athletic contributions to their respective program: Nash earned several All-America honors, including first team by the Associated Press, following his senior season. A three-time all-Big Sky Conference performer, Nash leaves Sacramento State with a school-record 29.5 career sacks and ranks fifth in program history with 40.5 career tackles-for-loss. As a senior during the fall, he led the team with 15.0 tackles-for-loss, including 10.5 sacks. Nash, who is just the second Hornet to earn first team honors from the Associated Press since the school moved to the Football Championship Subdivision in 1993, recently signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. He graduated with a criminal justice degree.

MEN’S TEAM PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
Football’s win at Oregon State
Sacramento State earned its first win over a Pac-12 Conference opponent with a 29-28 victory in Corvallis to open the year. The team led the majority of the game and then captured the victory in overtime when Jeff Fleming found Brandyn Reed for the touchdown and game-winning two-point conversion.

HORNET AWARD -
Jake Croxdale - Football :notworthy:
Awarded to one male and female student-athlete that best exemplifies the spirit of a Hornet with their sportsmanship, community service and those special intangibles that make them a great teammate: During his career, Croxdale was a four-time Big Sky all-academic selection and also earned All-America honors in strength and conditioning. As a senior, he received the team’s Ray Clemons award which is given to the player that best exemplifies the former coach’s hard-working philosophy. He also served as a team captain and played on nearly every special team. Off the field, Jake was honored by the Sacramento chapter of the National Football Foundation, and has volunteered his time to feed the homeless, read to elementary school children and work with the Komen Race for the Cure.

Thank you gentlemen, I am especially proud!
GO Hornets!
