Griz to open 2011 season again Tennesee Vols

Should be an interesting game. I would have thought that UM would have held out for a slightly higher payday, especially from an SEC team that has a massive fan base to make money off of.

Who cares? Sac State plays Stanford in '10. And UNLV, Boise, Colo State, UTEP the years before.

You'd think they had invented a cure for cancer with all the backslapping they are doing. I honestly hope UT gives them a mouthful of broken teeth.

Yeah they claim to make $750K by playing AM/PM SouthEastern University at home.

I agree, I hope they get obliterated!

They say that, but no one really knows for sure. They're in the same situation as every other athletic department, probably even worse. Their financial woes are just as bad as everyone elses.

I'm not so sure, Stung. Given the fact that the Griz are the only game in town, they're generally not only sold out (even for the patsies coming to town), it's VERY hard to get a ticket. That plus likely inflated concessions prices could easily translate into big bucks, even after the visitor's take.

Until we have the same thing happening, I'd say we're hardly in a position to gainsay them. Of course, if that WERE to happen to us, I could EASILY see Gonzo taking away the excess....

You just lost what little cred you had with me.

No other president in Sac State HISTORY has done for the university what Gonzo has. I don't care what you may read in the Bee, it can in no way overshadow his accomplishments and contributions to Sac State and Hornet athletics. This guy has a vision, would you rather have a guy like Gerth running the show again?!

All Gonzo needs to do is use the money that was appropriated by the students for an arena. Build an arena and all will be well in the kingdom again.

Gerth was useless and a liability, yes, Gonzo is the best President we have ever had, lets hope he doesnt get fed up with the BS and leave or retire.

I didn't say Gonzo is Gerth. That would be the misstatement of the millennium. I merely meant that he might take the excess $$ from football and redistribute it either to the rest of the Athletic Department or even to the academics. Some academicians might get jealous (not to mention loud) if football started making a ton of $$. There's a big difference between this and the trash Gerth pulled....

I agree. Gonzo got quite a bit done. He didn’t quite reach his Destination 2010 goals but he did get a lot on the list accomplished. He just needs to finish the job and his legacy will never be forgotten. The list of things he didn’t get done is far less than what he did accomplish. And when I say “him”, I am referring to him and his staff as I am sure they were of great assistance in his drive to complete his vision. He had to step on some toes at times but he never lost focus of the bigger picture. He does need to get the events center built though.
