Harvey To Enter Draft

I read that they voted to push the deadline back by 4 to 6 weeks so players can get a clearer picture of where they would be drafted. Remember that when our season ended in 2012 Dame was projected as a mid to late first rounder. It wasn't until he started tearing up his workouts and the pre-draft camps that he rocketed into the top part of the lottery.

Harvey already has the offensive skill set to play in the NBA. What I am not so sure of is if he has the defensive ability and emotional makeup to do it. If he does prove to have the later, then he could be a late first round pick. If he is not projected that high, he might then benefit greatly by honing his man defense against PAC12 level talent. Either way, there is little chance of him playing for Eastern next year. It's too bad, he has been a great player there. :twocents:

Emotional makeup??? How do you know? :willybs: what in the hell are you talking about?

I am not buying the Harvey to the PAC12 talk. If that was the case I don't think he declares for the draft. I think he is going to do the workouts and see how he measures up and then make a decision on returning or not. Going to the PAC12 would more than likely hurt his stock. He would have to learn a new system and likely accept a lesser role. He led the nation in scoring at EWU and has some good pieces around him. Dame and Stuckey have proven that you can get drafted in the first round while playing in the Big Sky.

All that I am saying is that if he projects out at less than a first rounder, second rounders can be cut, then he returns for his last year of eligibility. If he decides to return, he has legitimate PAC12 offers on the table. He is graduating and is immediately eligible to play on transferring. If he feels that he is not good enough to play in the PAC12, then he is certainly not good enough to play in the NBA. I hope that he gets good counsel and makes the right choice.

BTW, I am hesitant to respond to Mr. 'ski. :dunce: I am sure that there is no way for me to explain things to him, on a level that he would comprehend.

Intensely awaiting your breakdown of Tyler Harvey's emotional makeup! Is it something that can be purchased at Ulta?

:coffee:

First, Mr. 'ski, go back and complete your second grade reading. Once you are up to that level of reading comprehension, 10 or 15 years from now, then go back and read what I actually said. If, at that point, you still can't figure it out, ask one of your grand kids to explain it to you. :wall:

I don't want to get in the middle of your "emotional makeup" urination contest. But I think the kid has a pretty good "emotional makeup". We held him to 2 points in the first half then he came out and took the game over late in the second half and into overtime. I think the kid will be just fine. This was one of the better seasons for talented guards that the Big Sky has seen in a long time. Of course there is a defensive learning curve in the NBA. I can't think of one NBA rookie guard that I thought was a great defensive stopper out of the gate.

I agree with you '02. I think that he might have the right stuff for the NBA, and from that one game appears to have the mental/emotional toughness to handle the grind and pressure of the NBA. I'm just not SURE at this point, that those aspects are where they need to be. The NBA GMs will need to make that call based on their workouts and interviews.

If he goes past the date to withdraw his name, his is ineligible to return to college for his senior season. therefore he wont be able to able to go anywhere including PAC 12 teams or other teams. His options then include overseas or give the NBDL a chance. If he wasd smart, stay at Eastern one more year, refine his skill set (offense and defense) and then hope for the best after a strong senior season.

I'm thinking Harvey will be gone. It might be best for him to stick around another year, but I don't see it happening.
His stock can only go lower if he stays. I can't think of any reason why another years will improve his draft stock! he already led the nation in scoring.
Great player, he'll improve at the next level. I think he's all but done.

@GoodmanESPN: Eastern Washington's Tyler Harvey told ESPN he has signed with Sam Goldfeder of Excel.

Done and gone!

He must have decided that he was a lock for a first round pick, or that he and his family simply needed the money right now. At any rate, good luck to him. I hope he has a long and prosperous career as a pro. It's all good for him, EWU, and the BSC. :thumb: :thumb:
