HELP!

GoldenEagle,
According to Larry Weir after tonight slim Victory over Idaho State, we need Sac State to lose and Montana to loose on Saturday, we will Host. He explained what happened earlier in games that we lost, i.e. our lost to NAU, forgot what else was said, was so happy to get the Victory. Vic Wallace

Thanks Vic, I suspected that but wasnt sure. Go Cats!, Go Jacks!

I still think the EAGS win the tourney regardless of whether they host or not.

Go EAGS!

Going 0-1 against NAU is our blow of death.

If all 3 win, Sac would be 2-1 against Eastern and Montana, Eastern 2-2, and Montana 1-2. We'd be the 2 seed.

If Sac and Eastern win, it Montana loses, we'd be tied on head to head, but they'd be 1-0 against Montana (who would be third in this scenario) and we'd be 1-1.

Worst, If Sac loses but Eastern and Montana win, we'd tie on head to head with Montana, but would be a collective 1-2 against Sac and NAU (who'd finish tied for third) while Montana would be 1-1, only having played each team once.

The brutal thing is that the Big Sky punishes Eastern for having played the toughest schedule and having losses to the top teams rather than the lesser teams.

The good news is with a win we're at worst a 2 seed and would be considered a conference co-champ. With a loss we could drop to as low as four. Ultimately, if we can't win the title, I'd rather it go to Sac.

Also, I believe any regular season conf champion, which we'll be with a win, automatically gets selected to the NIT. So at least a win would cement a post season tourney bid, even if it isn't the right one.

This is close, but not quite accurate. The reason UM would have the tie-break in this scenario is that sac and nau would tie for 3rd, but nau would hold the tie-break over sac. So essentially, nau finishes 3rd and sac 4th. Therefore, UM holds the tie-break over eastern by having a better record vs. NAU.

I've covered this in a few other threads over the last few weeks.

And why did eastern play the "toughest schedule" again?

That's how it's going to be in the Big Sky for a while it seems. Just like you guys might be punished for losing to NAU (with no hope of a revenge game in Cheney) the Griz get the same crap for losing to Sac (F'n free throws!!) with no home game for revenge either in other tiebreaker situations. Total BS in my opinion.

Hate that some teams don't play each other twice anymore and that the conference has gotten so big that's not even a possibility.

To All,
Did my regular visit to EWU today, and found the Teams will be leaving tomorrow for Montana. Both Men and Women BB Teams will be playing there in Griz Stadium on Wednesday. Wish I could have made the trip. Will listen on the radio Wednesday Morning. I think next week is finals week, when they return from their break, time for Spring Practice.      , get out of this FB Withdrawal Process. Go Eagles!!!!! FYI.. You were wrong and I was right. The scenario we discussed played out, and Montana hosts because of the combined record against Sac and NAU. NAU, in fact, takes fourth. Montana essentially gets the bid for the one less game they played.

ClarkWGrizwald,
Thank for the info, found out the women play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, and men play 10 a.m. Thursday. Wish I could have made to trip to Missoula for the games, even being retired, I must assist getting my daughter to her job. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) which I doesn't mind. Vic Wallace
