This is a huge get for the Sac Sports commission and Sac State. Really it's a better deal for the games in general too with our playing surface and locale.

Sears must be drooling, hundreds of recruits (present and future) will participate and watch these games (in person and on TV)...

We should also get the CIF State Track and Field Championships in a couple of years after the contact runs out with Clovis. Always good to have the best athletes in the state on campus!

CARSON, Calif. – California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Executive Director Roger Blake today announced Sacramento State – Hornet Stadium will serve as the main host for the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games from 2015-17.

“The CIF is pleased to bring the State Football Championship Bowl Games to Sacramento State,” said CIF Executive Director Roger Blake. “We are excited to be holding this event at a facility which has hosted events such as the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships and will allow for a memorable experience for our student-athletes.”

Hopefully this will force Macriss to do something about the embarrassing bathroom and concession amenities at Hornet Stadium. Wishful thinking?

was thinking all the same things when I randomly stumbled on the Folsom game last night on TV. What a big get indeed for Sac State. For everything that might lack in our stadium we do have 21,000 capacity, a great field , a track and seem to have no problem bringing in NCAA championships, Olympic trials, and now high school state football championships. Plus we had no problem with the Mountain Lions, the Sacramento Surge and the Canadian Football League. We do need improvements to the stadium but perhaps facilities is not that big of an issue with our Hornets bringing in the best recruits to bring our program up in the Big Sky and FCS. Great news for Sac State!! And great to see the best high school football players in CA coming soon to play on campus!! May we get many of them to want to play here.
