Is a hell of a player. Thanks for CU for not using him! BTW, does anyone have video of that 66 yard TD run? That was awesome! Someone should put up that up on youtube.

I saw him play in high school, incredibly good then.

Not sure what prompted him to leave CU, but it's the Bear's gain for sure.

FT. COLLINS, CO-- Northern Colorado RB, Quintin Hildreth, #33, scrambles down the sideline for a touchdown against Colorado State LB, Aaron Davis, in the fourth quarter of play at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium Saturday afternoon. Marcell Peoples, #2, Northern Colorado looks to block Trent Matthews, Colorado State, #15. Rams went on to win 33-14. Andy Cross, The Denver Post

I remember reading an article on the Trib saying that he didn't think he would see much time on the field and since he wasn't on scholarship that it kinda put stress on his family, money wise, for him to keep going to CU. I agree though, I think he could be a really good back for UNC.

All correct. I think he hoped that Hawkins would put him on Scholly, but it didn't happen, then with the coaching change, he realized he had to prove himself all over again. It was probably easier to start fresh at UNC, maybe being a fellow "East Angel" with Collins didn't hurt. (That's not a slam, just saying that Hildreth and Colllins had a little something in common, and when Hildreth got his chance, he didn't waste it.)

It was reported in the Tribune that Hildreth doesn't know all of the offense, which is understandable because he came in just about a month ago, but that gives me hope that when he does learn it, we will be better on offense. We can open it up a bit. Getting Burnley back will be huge too.

Not just sold on Hildreth , his best pick up was for 60 plus yards on poor mistaken and a inverted whistle which made it lookups the play was dead. He had 30 plus yards on the NAIA school. Not sold on this sale just yet, let's see what he does this week.

Regardless Hildreth was a kid that should have never been at csu signing with Darrell Scott and Stewart already in the back field. Why didn't UNC land him when he took his official vist here in 2008?

Small correction. Hildreth came here by way of Colorado, not Colorado State. Darrell Scott and Stewart were both CU players (Stewart still is there, he's a senior), not CSU. Big difference, considering my extremely low opinion of Colorado State in general, Fort Collins in particular.

What I heard Hildreth went to CU because his high school coach played there and he was offered a PWO spot with promise of a scholly look down the road. Coaching change after his redshirt year and those promises all went away, presumably. He's going to be a good pickup for the Bears, trust me.

I didn't remember Hildreth taking an official here. Did he?

You know what I mean I meant CU not CSU. But UNC offered him a 75% scholarship. If we would have offered him a full I think it would have had a very hard decision to make. Rumor was that Darnell told Hildreth he would be an idiot to turn down the oppourtuinty. He was right it cost Hildreth 2 years at a program he had no chance with competitimg with Yes Woolfork is an alumni with CU but that does not increase his chance of playing time. If you play close attention to recruiting you see CU does not recruit skill players from CO since 06. There base is Cali. This is what I'm talking about can't let these players slip away for a walk-on at another school

Regardless of how he arrived here, Hildreth's a great addition to the team.

Who knows what CU said to him to convince him one way or the other. It wouldn't be the first time a coach said what kid wanted to hear to get a freebie as a walk-on, and didn't use him. (**cough-cough** Seth Lobato **cough cough**)...

But maybe after the disappointment in Boulder, he's hungry for success with the Bears. I think he's got a lot of talent.
