Hoax or Duped?

If this kid plays at PSU and actually gets a scholarship based either on a Hoax or his low IQ or whatever you want to call it then you have to ask your selves what it is it you really want out of Viking football. Please God do not let JG give this kid a scholarship. Every kid deserves their chance but for @#$^'s sake were trying to build a championship program here. Recruiting this kid is not worth it at all. Unless I am mistaken you have to at least pass your SAT to get into college? If I am wrong here let me know. I don't know what scores exactly you have to get these days but if someone who passes their SAT can get duked like this kid may have been, then shouldn't we question the standards that are in place for college athletes? The other people who spend their hard earned dollars to go to school forfeit a certain amount as an investment for athletics. This kid is a not anything close to what PSU should be recruiting if we think we are even going to be close to the top of the Big Sky or the FCS. Think about it and just say you pass its alright to do that ,PSU does not need to be the charity university of the NCAA and we do not need to bring the damn circus to town. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea needs a reality check. Football is not a joke at this level. Just think about future recruits and to be honest the fact that Jerry even inquired about this makes me wonder what he scored on SAT. I am sorry if some think I am being harsh but its brutal honesty he does not belong here PERIOD.
 
Am I the only frustrated by the fact that this kid has even been associated with PSU? Cause I Truly, Honestly and Deeply find it embarrassing. I feel for the kid but I can not even try and describe how I feel about someone with that IQ playing here. This is the complete opposite direction I thought all PSU fans wanted to go. I just do not get why we even looked at him. Someone please try to explain this to me. REALLY! If he comes to PSU its really going to be hard to support him. ARGGH.

You need to settle down. What has been proven as fact? Nothing. All the blogosphere and TV reports have cited that "sources say". That is hogwash. Until I hear facts, then I don't believe anything. Don't be so gullible.
 
This kid should not play at PSU. Wake up Viking fans this is a huge deal. Do not even consider him. App State is Playing at LSU to start the season!!!!! If we even want to be close to App State we can not even consider this kid.

Are you talking about the kid in Nevada? Who other than some dumb Fox News Channel claims that the kid will be considered. This is a non-story unless Glanville comes out and says otherwise. We just had a recruiting class of 30 guys. There aren't any scholarships to give out to any other kids anyway so it is a non story.
 
Yeah, I don't think that we have all of the facts at this point. Requesting video footage and this guy being a student athlete at PSU are miles apart from each other.

For what it's worth, I hope this kid comes to grips with how wrong it was of what he did. I also hope that he's able to continue his education somewhere. There are a lot of kids that make bad decisions and overcome those decisions to do tremendous things with their lives. Heck, didn't Colt Brennan spend a week in jail before moving on to Hawaii?
 
If this was a hoax perpatrated by the kid, then he should not be playing for PSU.

But if the kid was duped by some fake recruiters, then I can't really blame the kid...

He created the hoax. There were no recruiters who duped him.

The kid has obviously learned a very hard lesson. The humilation alone is punishment enough but he will probably still get some some civil punishment and he will have to work hard to restore his credibility.

Now that being said he might get taken by some college might take him on a probationary basis, get some good publicity about giving a kid a second chace, but privately tell him that if he messes up again or shows he is not as good as he has led others to believe, he is gone.

We all know Jerry has a soft spot for hard luck stories, so if he does take the kid, he might just turn him around.
Stranger things have happened.
 
If he wants to apply to PSU as a student and walk on like any other kid, I can't really argue with that. Maybe you find a diamond in the rough and give him a scholarship later on, but I wouldn't actively recruit him or offer him a scholarship.

There's too much we don't know. When you think how many people - adults - accepted the story without checking in the most rudimentary fashion - the coach (looks like he's being fired), the parents, the principal, not to mention the media - you have to wonder. The kid's story should have been quashed at the beginning and never got as far as it did. The same thing, I might add, applies to the current media reports about PSU recruitment. Rumors about rumors based on little or no information. Let's wait until we have hard data.

I hope nobody thought I meant a scolarship or a guranteed position. I was thinking about the possibility of a walk on or some other means. Even if Jerry, or any other coach for that matter, is interested in him, his only promise should be that he gets a fair shake and the chance to redeem himself and prove he deserves a place on the team.

We have no scholarships to give. We just awarded our final one. I doubt he would walk on since out-of-state tuition would kill that idea. I think the whole thing is a lark. I'm not worried about it. The kid may be big but he is flabby with no obvious work ethic besides his issues with honesty. It made me laugh when he was quoted as wanting to play big-time college football more than anything. It looks like he's never seen the inside of a weight room or bothers training. He looks like a mound of flab with nothing going on between the ears. The best thing for him is to go off and try a JC.
