I'd rate them a little higher if it wasn't for how the injuries have set them back. As it is, our freshmen are getting a baptism by fire.

Alot is being asked of the freshman. Even more is being asked of a true sophomore. I don't feel like we have witnessed a complete effort from this team against a D1 opponent.

If Chapman hadn't gotten hurt I might feel we were more prepared. Having him in the lineup also makes the bench look a tiny bit deeper. It sure seemed shallow against Pepperdine when they made their run.

Hopefully we can stay healthy in conference. Not sure if any team is going to run away with the title. It should be fun with the conference looking stronger.

Minus injuries. Portland State is going to run away with the conference....hands down the best team in the BSC.....their new coach is really getting that team to play together, as well as having the best freshman in the conference running the show....the race is for runner up....and as far as runner up is concerned, UNC is the leading candidate for that spot but they are more vulnerable than PSU....

Count me as a believer. They just beat Cal by 25 pts. Were a 5 pt dog. Wow! Their 2nd PAC12 win and 5th road win. Finish OOC 10-0 ATS.

:agree:

I will be very surprised if PSU doesn't take the conference easily, they have built a quality OOC resume. Seeing how UNC competes at UNLV tonight might give a better indication how they fit with Idaho and the Grizz in the running for 2nd.

And looks like Braxton Tucker will be available for conference play after playing 11 minutes last night. He was leading PSU in points and rebounds last season before getting injured early in the season.

Yes, PSU looks like the heavy favorite right now. They've done this sort of thing in the past, only to fall apart in league games. However this team seems to be holding together. Seems like they have found a good, new coach to go along with their new arena. Hats off to them. Making the top 4 in the BSC is going to be hard this year. The BSC is much stronger than it has been for a while. :coffee:

PSU is good. No other way to say it and for the conference, I'm glad they are good. The Vikings created a tough schedule and went out and got W's. To start the conference season, they should be the front runners. The second best team could be Idaho, UNCO, or Montana. I think MSU isn't quite up with those team, but getting there.

Regardless, this is about Weber State. What are the Cats chances? Honestly, not very good and that is mostly because of depth. The Cats have some really talented players starting, but there isn't a lot of options after the 6th man. That puts waaay too much pressure on the starting 5 and they will have to log a lot of mins, which will burn them out. Randy is going to have to find ways to save his players. To me, once Chapman is back, I would put Brekkot at the 4. He can play the 3 and is dangerous at that position, but you need a good big available on the bench and that is Kozak. Also, with Chapman at the 4, that causes matchup issues. Brekkot is too fast and has a really pretty shot from 5-15' (he is really efficient at that range), As for the 1, 2, 3...yes, you can move Chapman to the 3 and play him with Braxton and Kozak, but that shouldn't be from the opening tip. Having Kozak come in off the bench would allow one of our other two bigs time to rest. This would give us depth in the middle.

The bigger problem, who can come in for Richardson, Baker, and Harding? Doc and Ary-Turner aren't really players that have necessarily wowed us, and Court never sees the floor. Right now, Weber seems like a 7 man team, and the 7th man is questionable at best. They need an 8th or maybe even 9th guy to show up for the Cats to have a chance at winning the conference.

PSU is the favorite. We will lose games in conference, and we will not win the regular season.

However, with some experience we can upset in the conference tournament. We just need to keep getting better each game.
