Got this yesterday, figured I'd post it here in case anyone is interested:
Please join us for a Hornet Club Town Hall Meeting

When: Tuesday, July 22nd at 6pm
Where: The Sac State Alumni Center

Please take advantage of this opportunity to openly express your opinions, concerns and ideas with regards to the Hornet Club.

We’ll provide the pizza and drinks…you provide the dialogue!

And please, tell a friend and pass the word along…anyone is welcome to join us.

We look forward to seeing you, as we truly appreciate your involvement and support of the Hornets!
I assume that this will be the public debut of the new Associate AD Markus Jennings since one of his responsibilities is the oversight of the Hornet Club.

Some questions to be asked at town hall.

The new arena campaign?
A new football stadium without a track .

Other facilities questions

-Lights for baseball softball and soccer
-permanent stands for soccer
-club house for softball and soccer
-permanent restrooms and concession for football and track
-what is the marketing campaign for hornet sports.
-why is the marching band not going to the Cal/Sac State football game on TV. A big sponsor is Amadopr Stage Line. how much does it cost to rent two buses to go 100 miles?
-Why do we not have a band at the home volleyball and basketball games the past two years? If the Sac State music dept. cannot provide a band why not bring in high school bands? We have a high school gym so why not bring in high school bands. We are Div I. Do not get it.
Where is the marketing?
All these small details seem to be missing in a sports program that is looking to go big time. Things this small where in place 20 and 30 yrs ago during the Div II years. What has happened?

forgot to mention restrooms.

Restrooms for all sports.

Restrooms are so basic.

Physical needs first

Fans need a place to go to the restroom

We need permanent restrooms for

football
track
baseball
softball
soccer
tennis

And the restrooms in Yosemite Hall for

basketball
volleyball
gymnastics \

Are 60 urs old and not cutting it for a Div I program looking for big time fan support

What is the plan for new plumbing?

Of course a new arena would take care of this as Hornet Gym was an embarrassmetn a few years after it was built but........

No idea on the Cal game. If the band doesn't have the money to send themselves there then they shouldn't go. Last thing that needs to happen is for the athletics to spend their money on the band.

From what I have heard from band alumni is that the current band director thinks having the pep band at home basketball games is "too demanding" on the students. However in the past it was strictly a "voluntary" effort and those band members that could make it were permitted to go. Basically all band does now is perform at home football games. I agree it would improve the game day atmosphere. It would be nice to see the band at more events.

Band and cheer/dance teams are not funded by athletics. Mostly by Associated students so no worries on any money coming from athletics to rent a couple buses to go to away games for the band. Showing up as leaders of Sac State Pride at football, basketball and volleyball, etc. is a demanding undertaking. that is a given at Sac State and all universities. That is what makes these students leaders and provides them with the know how to be dedicated and understanding of what it takes to step up. And trust they truly do have a great time at the games, practices, camps, competitions, etc. Glad we are the school with the motto "Leadership Begins Here"

The pep band leader, in my opinion, was excellent at her position. She kept it excited for the rest of the band and kept my kid watching her during parts of the game. At times it was better to watch her than the game. When she graduated the pep band dissolved. Now that basketball is winning, I think we need the seats for paying fans.

Very few games ever reach capacity at The Nest. With the phaggies too scared to play the Hornets this year, and with no Weber coming to town, that means there are two less games that will be at/near capacity. Seating is not the reason why the pep band shouldn't be at bball games.

Markus Jennings really hit the ground running... Got this in the mail yesterday... Can I send a check earmarked for stadium improvements and a new event center??? LOL

Yes you can.
He sent out an email today outlining some of the near term goals. Really sharp guy, I was impressed when I spoke with him at the town hall meeting last month, he’s a very likable guy. Hornet fans should be encouraged about the future; I hope fans and alums support his efforts.
