135 points against Chico State in an exhibition game. Amazing. A 40 point win.

Looks like the Hornets are off and running ans coring and scoring and scoring yet again.

Got to love it!!!

best of luck to the high scoring Hornets this year!!!

May all those shots go in during the upcoming regular season.

And may the Hornets play DEFENSE as well as they play amazing OFFENSE.

Another fun game to watch. The Hornets had much better play than last year in the paint on both offense and defense. It took the new players about the first half to really see what goes on with the frenetic pace of play, but it looks like they are a quick study. Should be an entertaining season.

Hornets go down by two points at USC today.
Sac downed by UCLA in LA days ago by 9
And lose by 13 to Cal a couple weeks ago.
Blown out by Oregon State though
But all good. Proud of this massive task and being competitive and representing Sac State well.

Very impressive run thru the Pac 12 that should pay off during Big Sky play.

What a unique pre season experience for the Hornets taking on a good portion of the Pac 12 on the road.

Best of luck to the Hornets who play the first athletic contest for Sacramento State in 2015 at NAU.

May the high scoring Hornets who were on the road most of the pre conference season see all their shots drop in the buckets and come out with a victory!!

Sac State Pride!!

Another win for the Hornets just over at Hornet Gym. A 5 point win over UNC. Hornets are 3-1 with the only loss in Flagstaff by 4 in Big Sky play.

Another tough, scrappy, entertaining Hornet team that never gives up and fights from start to finish. They are so fun to watch and such a great basketball program for our university. They play their game and seem to fear no opponent.

On to Idaho and Eastern Washington next week.

The Hornets are surging and looking great after their brutal non conference schedules which was one of the most difficult among all Div 1 teams in the country.

3rd win in a row!!

Go Hornets!!

Sac State Pride.

Hornets win big 107-89 over the Vandals in Idaho to move to 4-1 in the big Sky for the first time in school history. The Hornets are rolling big time and head over the state line to face 4-0 EWU on Sat.

Go Hornets.

Sac State Pride!!

Game just over at EWU.

Hornets take down the undefeated Eagles 73-67 and surge into first place in the Big Sky. Looks like the Hornets were down 65-60 in the final minutes and made a 13-2 run. This team never gives up and fights from start to finish and plays their game so well. Back home next week for Idaho State and Weber State. Hope Hornet Gym is packed for our first place Hornets!!! 5 wins in a row. Let's make it 7 next week.

Wow. 5-1 for Sac State and another milestone in Div. I history at this point in the conference season. Best start ever. Amazing accomplishment. And 3-1 so far in BSC on the road. Loving that.

Roll on Hornets

Sac State Pride.

Impressive come from behind win and sweep on the road into first place! Congratulations ladies and coaches, keep it going!

indeed. congrats to our Hornets and their excellent coaches.

Just remember that the spring semester starts next week so students will be back on campus and the Hornets are popular with our students. Should be fun times so Hornet Gym should be rocking from here on out.

Been meaning to ask a question of folks on this board.

Has the Big Sky moved to a north /south format with six schools in each and the winner of the north and south automatically going to the Big Sky Tourney and the other four qualifying teams coming to the tourney based on best Big Sky record. Or does that start next year? Or am I just recalling something that is not happening?

Great job by the Lady Hornets (men rolled as well). Apparently it was bitch slap EWU Day on the hardwood today. First place for both men and women.
  :notworthy:

Think you're recalling something that is not happening to my knowledge.

fun to look at the EWU fan board.

They are amazed at how tiny Hornet Gym is . It baffles them and upsetting to them. . Would love to ask them to send some money to us for a new arena.

They do like our football stadium and field house.

They have 18,000 less students then us and 7 less athletic teams needing scholarships then us. All so relative when you think about it. And they have a men's basketball team with 6 players from other countries and everyone else from out of state (only 1 player from Washington). They are a program that pumps all their funds into basketball and football. Or at least they focus their funds much more into the big sports than we do or can with all the opportunities we offer for our 19 teams and 18,000 more students needing help to go to school.

EWU is a great school and most assume it is very different than Sac State but in fact it is a commuter school primarily just like us.

Like the way we do it and sponsor as many teams as we can. And we all know we need a new arena. But until that happens it's all about building the best programs we can and basketball has come a long way and currently is on top of the Big Sky. It can be done!!

thanks peegeepee.

Guess I might be thinking about another conference. So many changes in college sports these days. Can't keep it all straight.

Go Hornets.

Congratulations to Fantasia Hilliard for being named POW in the Big Sky!!! Surprised this is her first. A warrior for Sac State for four years now. And our women's team is rolling with 12 games left and 7 of them, including the final three BSC games at Home. Gonna be exciting!!!

Go Hornets.

Sac State Pride

hope to see Hornet Gym buzzing tomorrow night with the students back on campus and taking a couple hours out to go to the game and cheer on our surging first place Hornets against a good Idaho State team that we will only face one time in the regular conference schedule.

Go Hornets.

Sac State Pride.

See that the hornet women are getting attention from the NCAA and are among the top colleges in some stats and getting those post season projections which are oh so far away. But this is what happens when are Hornets are on top in the big Sky. Happens to all Big Sky teams and it is nothing different for our Hornet teams.

Hope Hornet Gym is packed for Idaho State. Think ISu has done well in Hornet Gym all time so good for lots of Green and Gold support to turn out.

Go Hornets.

Sac State Pride.

Hornets roll to a 31 point victory over ISU last night at Hornet Gym.

There doesn't seem to be the record keeping for the women's team like the men's team but believe Idaho State had dominated the Hornets the most of any Big Sky team until a couple seasons ago. But me thinks most Big Sky teams took care of Sac State until 2010 forward.

6 wins in a row. First place. From 2-10 to 8-10 and climbing.

This Hornet program has truly made enormous advances in the past several years and Sac State has arrived and just keeps getting better year after year and along the way is so much fun to watch. The Hornets are athletic, determined, persistent, fearless, and you always have the sense that they can win any game and take on anyone, anytime . Love that. Hard to express how great this program has become. And of course appreciate the efforts of any and all former hornet programs and all they did to contribute to the university and our sports history. It all matters and it all is to be respected.

Best of luck against Weber and hope folks turn out and enjoy the first place Hornets for a couple hours and hang out on campus on what appears to be forecast as a very spring like day in the middle of winter tomorrow. Cheering on the Hornets to another win and enjoying the campus would be a great day for sure.

Go Hornets

The first place Hornets move to 7-1 in the Big Sky with a

108-65 win over Weber State at Hornet Gym.

Now on to Montana State and Montana next week.

Continue to roll on Hornets and play your game as you continue to get better and better and better. Hornet women's basketball completely ROCKS!!

Congratulations on 7 wins in a row and keep it going.

Go Hornets.

Sac State Pride!!

figured it out about my north/south Big Sky question.

Was looking at the Big Sky standings and volleyball came up.

There is a north /south division in that sport that was instituted this past season.

Best of luck to the Hornets in Montana this week. Amazing to see that the Hornets are 0-19 at Univ. of Montana and 3-34 all time. Hard to imagine this sort of dominance over a Sac State program that has been outstanding the past 4 seasons.

And Montana looks to be a great team yet again as they are right behind the Hornets in the standings.

Best of luck to the Hornets first at 1-6 Montana State and then on to Montana currently at 6-1 in the Big Sky.
Then the following week at Portland State. The Vikings are 1-7.

Getting three more wins on the road would be incredible for the first place 7-1 Hornets and set them up oh so sweet for a run at the Big Sky title with 5 of the final 7 games at Hornet Gym after this upcoming 3 game road swing.

Go Hornets!!

Sac State Pride.
