Hornets break another record in win over Weber

111-104 victory today for the Hornets. A new Big Sky record for most points scored. Congrats to Sac State for their first BSC road win. Keep it going on the road next week.

14-5 overall and 6-4 at the midway point in the BSC regular season.

Go Hornets!!!

Another gutsy win for the Hornets! It got a little dicey there at the end with all the fouls, being shorthanded as we are. Does anyone know when we will get our injured players back? Our current lack of depth could be a problem during the home stretch, especially with our style of play.
The Weber announcers kept implying that the Sac State players, parents and fans really didn't like Coach Harkleroads, style of play. This fan thinks it's entertaining and great!
Congratulations ladies and coaches, rest and heal up for next week!

Go Hornets!

yep, those Weber announcers were dogging Sac State the whole game and saying anyone can beat the Hornets. It is entertaining indeed to watch these away games and listen to the announcers who are trash talking the Hornets an the way they play.

Half way thru the season all the Big Sky teams have seen Sac State and Sac State has seen all their opponents as well. So here is to our Hornets giving it all they have in the next 10 conference games!!

Go Coach Bunky, the assistant coaches and the Hornets!!

I guess the announcers had to have something to talk about, Weber's Women have lost something like 38 straight Big Sky Games!

IMO, there's something to be said for the local announce team catering to the fanbase. But if what Joe just said about the Weber announce crew is true (and I have no reason to doubt him), they ought to be reprimanded for going over the top. Sure, our ladies don't seem to know how to play defense very well, but the offense is MORE than making up for that, as attested by the TWO times we've already broken the league single-game scoring record this season. When a team's offense is going off like that, an opposing announce crew has NO business spouting off like that.

The sad thing is that I've respected Weber as an institution ever since my old UOP teammate John Fassel (now the Special Teams Coordinator with the Rams) transferred there after the Tigers dropped the football program. They've always been a good opponent in football, not to mention hoops up until now. (Unlike cheap-shotting St. Mary's.) I'm sure that if someone points this out to the administration, the announcers will be reprimanded for going over the top like that. While it's a good thing to support one's own team against poor officiating or dirty play by the other team, THIS is something else entirely, and ought to be stopped.

Nothing against Weber St. These announcers were not students, one seemed to be a former player. The
" anybody can beat Sac State" comment at the end of the game was stupid and just added insult to injury. Apparently 14 teams so far this season didn't know that! The thing that bugged me most was that they kept repeating that if you took a "off the record" poll of the players, parents and fans they didn't like Coach Harkleroad's system. The implication was that this "gimmick system" was forced on them, they wouldn't have chosen it. I don't know any of the women on the team but I have sat around their parents at games and they are certainly in to it. Coach Craighead recruited these women to play a upbeat style of play, this might be up a level but the results speak for themselves.

And yet there is a thread on the Weber board calling for a reprimand on McElroy for his anti-BSC refs rant during the men's game. Stay classy Weber. :dunce:

Good to see the women get a road win against the worst team in the BSC. :thumb:
