IMO, there's something to be said for the local announce team catering to the fanbase. But if what Joe just said about the Weber announce crew is true (and I have no reason to doubt him), they ought to be reprimanded for going over the top. Sure, our ladies don't seem to know how to play defense very well, but the offense is MORE than making up for that, as attested by the TWO times we've already broken the league single-game scoring record this season. When a team's offense is going off like that, an opposing announce crew has NO business spouting off like that.
The sad thing is that I've respected Weber as an institution ever since my old UOP teammate John Fassel (now the Special Teams Coordinator with the Rams) transferred there after the Tigers dropped the football program. They've always been a good opponent in football, not to mention hoops up until now. (Unlike cheap-shotting St. Mary's.) I'm sure that if someone points this out to the administration, the announcers will be reprimanded for going over the top like that. While it's a good thing to support one's own team against poor officiating or dirty play by the other team, THIS is something else entirely, and ought to be stopped.
