Hornets Earn 4th Seed in FCS Playoffs; Will Face UCD/SDST Winner at Home

I’m tired of every mock and bracket having us lose this game. I’m tired of hearing MVFC this, MVFC that. I’m tired of people saying this Conference championship doesn’t count because of our “weak” schedule.

I hope TT has the guys ready! I want us to win this one convincingly!

Side note as mentioned earlier. Maybe it’s because Hornets have had history of refs playing on the other side once too many times, but Davis D-line was getting held left and right this game without any calls. Might have not mattered much based on the score, but that could spell trouble for the Hornets D-line!

Very observant comment about the large Sac State Stadium with a track around it that has been less than half full for home games this year. Hope to draw more than 3,681 next Saturday so the rabbits can have a bigger crowd to play in front of in the FCS playoffs.

Stingers Up!!

Lots of “minor” offensive holding not being called on South Dakota State against Davis so far. Which worries me. They’re breaking out for big runs because of it

IMO our poor attendance can work against us. The FCS powers that be want these playoff games played in stadiums filled with fans. The Dakotas and Montanas all have huge fan support because they have nothing else close by. It’s essentially their “pro” team.

In short, I won’t be surprised if the officials seem to have an agenda against us. The more playoff games hosted at sparsely attended Hornet Stadium the worse it is for the powers that be.

Sacred heart
Holy Cross drew 4163

Davidson
Kennisaw state drew 2764

S.f. Austin
I.c.w. drew 3448

Ucd
SDSU drew 3681

Ut Martin
Missouri State drew5072

Uni
Ewu drew 3845

Southern Illinois
South Dakota drew 3597

Famu
S.e. Louisiana drew 4125

These attendance numbers came from ESPN website, so it's not just e.w.u that suffered in attendance, but pretty much across the board in the playoffs.

Jackrabbit fan here…looking forward to the game next Saturday(although with the late start it’ll feel like Sunday, lol)

Looks like fair weather next Saturday night so far, advantage both team. Going to try to watch a couple Sac St replays. Montana for sure any other games that should pique my interest.

Should be a great contest between two fantastic squads. SDSU was in reality 2 plays from being a one loss team. Our UNI loss was as much a coaching thing as it was players. I’m thinking the squads should matchup pretty evenly.

Attendance won’t suffer for the Montana schools or NDST.

I am surprised by the low turn out for SDST though. Something seems odd about that.

Crazy, I haven't seen a single mock have us winning this game. Only option is to prove them wrong.

I haven't either. All I've seen is their fans saying they're going to run the ball down our guys' throats. One poster said he usually would choose to defer if they won the coin toss but in this game, he'd choose to take the ball and run it down our throats from the get go. Ok, let's play the game and see what happens. I like our boys' chances!

Welcome to the board.

The montucky game was the only "good" game we played in conference. The Idaho State game was close, but we were still finding our legs on offense at that point in the season (we didn't play last spring).

UNC played us tough at their place so that would probably be worth watching. That game shouldn't have been that close and I felt the Hornet play calling didn't stick with what was working. Hornet defense gave up a couple of big plays that kept the game closer than it should have been.

The only other "good" team we played was the dungpilers and as you guys just found out they were obviously over-rated all season long due to their Tulsa win. We had the game well in hand at halftime and turtled the entire 2nd half on offense because our D had them shutdown. Their TD came in garbage time against our reserves.

If you guys don't botch that hail mary defense at USD then you are a seed. This is going to be a tough game for us.

I was that poster…I have no doubt your guys will be ready. Strength against strength and my statement was nothing more than wanting the Jacks to run it and impose their will on the game. Not saying that happens but my opinion is the tone will be set in the first drives of the game.

One thing about us as a fanbase, when the Jacks play a solid game, play to their ability we are confident…but we are realistic as well. SDSU was a Hail Mary away from a 9-2 reg season record add that and a missed 2pt conversion from 10-1. We also realize that our team can “spit the bit” from time to time. You scour our forum and you can find plenty of skepticism.

Looking forward to this contest.
