Sac State competed in the South Central Regional Golf Tournament this weekend at Norman, OK. They turned in a cumulative +39 903 over three rounds, beating three teams (IUPUI, #48 Middle Tennessee State, and Loyola-Chicago) in the process.

#13 Washington (-4 860) won the South Central Regional, followed by #1 Texas (E 864), #23 Florida State (+7 871), # 35 Illinois (+7 871), and #30 Oklahoma (+10 874). These all move on to the NCAAs at Pacific Palisades, CA. U of San Diego's Grant Forrest (+2 218) advances as an individual.

The most competitive region by far was the West Region at Stanford, which saw two sub-par schools get sent packing. I won't bore you with all the scores there, but will just note that #2 Cal won the West Region; #14 San Diego State, #37 UAB, #8 Stanford, and #22 UCF all advance. Pepperdine's #68 Josh Anderson is the individual qualifier.

#34 UT-Chattanooga won the South Regional (held at Bowling Green, KY). Joining them in the NCAAs are #15 TX A&M, #3 UCLA, #46 VA Tech, and #39 Memphis State. The individual qualifier is Iowa State's #75 Nate McCoy.

#4 Alabama is the Southeast Regional Champion (held at Athens, GA). The other advancing teams here are #33 East Carolina, #10 North Florida, #24 Georgia, and #27 Iowa. Long Beach State's Philip Chian is the Southeast Region's individual qualifier.

#6 USC won the Central Region in Ann Arbor, MI. They are joined in Pacific Palisades by #7 Oregon, #18 Kent State, #19 Virginia, and #43 TX Christian. NC State's Albin Choi will represent the Central Region as the individual qualifier.

#32 Liberty is the big upset winner of the East Region in Greensboro, NC. They beat out #17 Florida, #5 Auburn, and unranked Lamar and Tulsa (which also move on). There was a 3-way tie for the individual qualifier. Liberty's #45 Robert Karlsson was removed from the playoff because he advances as a member of Liberty's team. Campbell's Viata Guillaume defeated SMU's Matt Schovee in a one-hole playoff for the individual qualifier spot.

Congratulations to the Hornets on a great season!
