Hornets part II

Oddly, there seemed to be more people in the house in the second half than the first. It looked real close to 8K to me. There were a couple of bad calls, but, for the most part, the refs were better than I expected. There were some really good no calls and just a few calls that should have been.

It wasn't our best offensive night. We will do better in that department on Saturday. Defensively, it was a dog fight tonight. To their credit, Sac did not back down. I think they will make the tournament. :thumb: :thumb:

I thought we were pretty good offensively. Shot pretty well from the 3 and Tresnak and Bolomboy each scored in double figures. I was real happy to see Bolomboy's baby-hook. He will need that move next year. A few too many turnovers, but we also broke the 3/4 court press a few times and got dunks/lay-ups.
Sac St does a great job of posting guards down low. Boyette used to do that a lot.
And that big freshman that they have - Stuteville - for as awkward as he looks he's got some range. And he's pretty good on the boards.

Yeah post-game radio touting the 8K attendance, even mentioning it to Rahe. I wish they tracked tickets sold/given away AND actual attendance. It looked more like 6K and and a quiet 6K at that. 8K may be nice for the books and stats but for the players, atmosphere, etc. how many butts in seats and how loud they get is what matters. The student section was lacking, again. For the second game in a row I could barely hear the "if you're winning and you know it..." chant. Weber leads the league in attendance-- by far-- yet, a mere fraction of the student body and community care. What a shame. What a waste.

What are you talking about? "what a shame, what a waste" :wtf: jeez.. good size crowd looked like 7,500-8,000 to me like other crowds we've had all season. Probably one of the quieter crowds all season that had more to do with the game, and whistles more than anything else. As far as the students they are a lost cause, I have given up caring about that... As long as the community comes out like they have been that's all that matters at this point

:agree: Joel's "tweener" hook was sick! They did get a taste of successfully attacking the press and it was refreshing to see, but then Sac tweaked it and it kinda rattled Weber. I just don't understand why it's so difficult for them. Anyway, we saw some good things against a good team. Defensively, I don't think Weber played nearly as well as they should be capable of. I hope their defensive intensity is there Sat and countinues through the tourneys, they'll need it.

Good morning Eeyor. Looks like that rain cloud is still following you around. There was a good number of students there. I just think the atmosphere never really got going. I am not going to blame that on the students. I think the community support has increased this year.

What a shame 150/25,000 students and 6,000/200,00 of the community showed up. What a waste of a great game and a great team clinching a share of conf. Sorry, no where near 8K in the DEC last night.

I'm sorry you're wrong. I think you're confusing atmosphere with actual attendance. The atmosphere was as bad as its been all season. That happens sometimes, especially when there was no real threat from Sac

Lets all bring Eeyor WeatherCat a nice full glass of milk on Saturday so he can start looking at the glass half full. I will agree that I doubt there were 8000 there. There were lots of empty seats in section M that belong to season ticket holders. Weber State basketball is on the rise in the community.

Please keep in mind that the student section is larger than just the 5 or 6 rows where the "chanters" are.
Students fill up much of the lower sections behind the floor seats. So there were a couple thousand students in attendance, not 150.

Ya know, with your interesting profile pic, your obsession with me recognizing your "Eeyore" label is kinda creeping me out. Is that the responsibility of a Moderator? To hang labels on posters and attempt to antagonize them in public forums? If so, good job .

It's interesting you were the first to point out that you thought there were 6000 in attendance and then restated that you "doubt there were 8000 there." Hall full, half empty? Who cares? What matters (to the atmosphere and I would think the team) is the actual quantity, and you won't convince my own eyes that 8K were in attendance. If 8K tix were sold for the game, great for the University!

Furthermore, is this a two-face or hypocritical pattern with you? I threw those terms out in case you're having difficulty hanging a label on yourself. In the "Hot Dog" post, you make fun of my positive suggestion to get the Standard Examiner involved for exposure by saying why ruin a good thing by involving the sub-standard exaggerator, but then Roy Burton hops on-line and it's welcome Roy! Good to have you. With you position you should have good insight, etc. :puke: Don't bother with the full glass of milk Saturday, I'm fine and comfortable living in reality, besides I'm a Pepsi drinker and....wait for it...the DEC is a Coke shop.

He didn't get served you moron. I like weather's posts a hell of a lot better than yours. I can't remember the last time you made any sense you dickhead! You did get schooled on your own thread yesterday on here though

1. I never asked to be a mod or wanted to be a mod. I think I have eliminated 1 spam post in my time as a mod. I am just a normal guy that likes to talk about his team. This board is my escape from a stressful day.
2. I stated that I agreed with you that there were not 8,000 fans there. I think the reporting of the number of fans was wrong. I disagreed with your being down on the students and community. If you look at the hard facts, community support is up. They are involving local schools and trying to do things in the community.
3. I do not agree with some of the recent decisions our local paper has made. I have some issues with them as an advertiser and client that are not related to their coverage of Weber State basketball. If you look at one of my replies to Roy, you will see that I asked Roy if he could post more than just the link to his story and could post content and the side of the story that many of us fans don't get to see. Yes I welcomed him to the forum and regardless of my relationship with his employer, I think it is good to have him here.
4. You can call it two faced. But many times in life you need to look at the positives along with the negatives.
5. My daughter made that picture for me as a joke. I thought it was funny and made it my avatar.

If you want a big full cup of Pepsi I can bring you that too. Every week we have to have a thread blasting the students. The students on this board are the ones doing all the work and I think they should get some credit.

1) I like to think I'm a fairly normal guy too, maybe with the exception of a 35-year obsession with Weber State. I obviously enjoy getting on this board a hearing what others opinions are positive or not, but don't care for personal attacks, name calling, or whatever.

2) My post was not intended to come off as knocking the efforts of anyone trying improve support or those in attendance, I was simply recognizing that 8K wasn't in attendance and saying it's a shame that out of 25K and 200,000K that only 6K will show up for an important game between two good teams. I just don't see how that comes across so negatively or as a knock on anyone except who's not in attendance. The DEC is an incredible facility; Weber has a great, history-rich program; Weber had a special year last season; Weber recently sent the best player to the NBA to ever come out of the BSC; Weber, by far, leads the BSC in attendance and all this is Great, Great, Great! Weber's marketing and promotion has gotten much better than, say, 10 years ago and yet with all this, I just struggle understanding why they can't get another 6K support from a sizable student body and community.

3) I agree it's good to have Roy here but I also believe it's invaluable to have the Standard involved too. The Signpost is important, especially for those on campus, but the Standard is the same to the community. I understand the politics of business and know there are many who have issues with the Standard or certain staff members but they are the local media and about the only media who will give Weber the time of day.

4) Agreed, that's why I took exception after ignoring your initial "Eeyore" reference, posting a few positive posts, and then being called an "Eeyore" again after basically agreeing with others that 8K weren't actually in attendance. It seems to be a really touchy subject (tickets sold vs actual attendance) so how about I just try and keep my mouth shut about it?

5) Sorry for the avatar reference, anything your child makes for you (as a joke or not) shouldn't be made fun of.
