Hornets @UIdaho

Sounds like the Hornets are taking some bad shots that are hurried and no one is in position for a rebound.

Dickson misses. Sounds like he isn't having a stellar game. Bey misses a shot. Idaho rebound. After about 3 offensive rebounds by Idaho, they still cant get a bucket and Hornets get the ball.

I have an impression that the Hornets are just kind of playing some schoolyard ball. It sounds like they are taking too quick of shots and not running any set plays. Now with time running out, I doubt they will be able to get into any kind of a rhythem.

Hornet foul. Idaho is in the double bonus. 70-59 with 3:52 left. It's not completely out of reach but the Hornets will need to make their shots from here on out.

Idaho misses both FT's. 70-59 Idaho. Let's hit some threes. Hornet turnover by Eller. Idaho layup. :x
Another Hornet turnover. Comon guys, get it together and finish strong.

Another Hornet foul, however Idaho isn't hitting their FT's like they usually do. 2:30 left. Daniel misses. Idaho rebound. Time to start throwing up 3's. 14 point lead by Idaho. steal marcial. Dunk Eller. 12 point lead. 1:40 left.

Eller draws a charge...nope blocking on Eller. Damn that would have been huge. Idaho has shot 20 more FT's than the Hornets. Idaho missed both FT's, the Hornets can't get the rebound. :x

Idaho running all the clock before taking a shot. 44 seconds left 10 point game. layup miss by Idaho, Eller forces a jump ball, Hornet ball. Bey misses a 3. Selling gets called on a foul. If that three falls that would have made things interesting. Selling fouls out.

Idaho has now shot almost 30 more FT's. 75-61 Final.

SHA what are your thoughts on the game? Sounded like the Hornets couldnt get in a rhythem. The Hornets were not dominated on the boards like I thought they would be given the size difference between the two teams. Hornets need to get to the charity stripe a lot more than 8 times though. That won't get it done. At least they made them all though.

Yeah I agree about the FT discrepancy...seems like everytime Idaho knew they were going to get fouled, they just threw the ball up to make it a shooting situation. They play an up-tempo game where that's not the system Katz has in place. Their guards are true slash and burn (just like I saw last year at our place). I heard good things tonight: Selling's offensive performance, Bjegovic having a breakout game. Also, if this is a "bad" game for Dickson (i think he finished with 10 pts), then we have a lot to look forward to this year. Bring on Braveheart!! LOL.

Yeah it sounds like Katz has these players fighting hard, which is a positive. Yeah the up tempo style definitely played against the Hornets. That’s when Katz needs to step in and tell his guys to play their game and not try to match Idaho. That’s a discipline issue that will develop over time. The Hornets hung tough and sounds like a scrappy bunch. This game would have been a lot closer if they could have to a shot to drop here and there. I hope they can get the win against UCR this weekend.

To put the Oregon State win into perspective, the Beavers have also lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christie. This Hornets team still needs LOTS of work.

Come on guys. We knew that this team would be a work in progress. I don't care if OSU lost to Sutter Middle School's team, they are a Pac-10 basketball school. They are projected to finish in the middle of the pack in conference, and are still a decent squad. The thing I loved the most about that game is that our guys withstood a furious 2nd half comeback against a pretty seasoned Pac-10 team, and had enough composure to pull it out in the end. When is the last time that happened? They also were competitive, on the road, against an Idaho team picked to finish 4th in the WAC and a South Alabama who won 20 games last year.

I like what I see in this team. Once they jell a little more, it could be exciting. Will they win 20 games, no, but I think they have a lot better chance of being competitive each night than we have had in a few years. And this is with just one full year of recruiting.

I have to agree, this team looks significantly better than what was put on the court last year. I really don't care who OSU lost to, we only won 2 games last year! We were also in the middle of a 38 game road losing streak - and that ended against a Pac-10 team! It's clear that this team has more talent and is playing competitive basketball (outside of the 1st game). It's very important that the JC's players continue to adjust to the speed of the D1 game - especially Norris and Bjegovic. If they can add to the offense, and if Toles-Bey, Dickson, and Selling continue playing at this level I can see this team winning double digit games. They may even be able to compete for a Big Sky Tournament spot, although it will be challenging.

Huge improvement over last year - nice job coach!

Totally agree with Cece and OH. They are fighting hard every possession...I think the FT discrepancy last night was bogus...but what are you going to do about that? It happens. I really like this team...they will be fun to watch this year...probably a lot of Alka Seltzer moments, but that's ok. As long as they are competitive night in and out and they were last night...just couldn't get the buckets to fall (that and UI getting to the FT line).
