Horrible Playcalling in SD

SDHornet,

Did you see the bogus end to the first half? The Chargers had a sure TD until that delay of game penalty. One can argue that call all day, but Turner's reaction to it leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to throw when you KNOW that heavy blitzes are coming? Was he afraid to try a draw with Tomlinson out? Or how about putting Volek in and running load option? That would have been a great call. No leaks following a pulling guard as in the "G" option, and at the same time the corner linebacker is kicked out by the FB since you're dispensing with the normal dive fake. Either Volek keeps for the TD, or if a safety comes up, the pitch gets the TD since the WR has run off the CB. Since you're just looking for 5 yards instead of 50, what's not to like about that?

Charger fans have come get use to the ridiculous play calling of Norvelle Turner. My favorite was the 4th and 2 play call at the end of the game. The Chargers have half of their O-line hurt and he takes the ball out of the hands of Rivers and runs a power sweep right with one of the smallest RB’s in the game. The play calling never ceases to amaze me.
