I am going to Portland State in the fall. I am THRILLED about being a Viking, but I am missing some important information. The acceptance letter neglected to inform me what schools have rivalries with Portland State! I need to know who I should want to tear to pieces!
 
The biggest sports rivalry would be with University of Montana. A basketball rivalry with University of Portland could shape up in the near future.
 
Yep, "Beat Montana" is all you will ever need at PSU. For football, in even years, you will use it against Montana State when they come to town, in odd years it will be used against hated Montana.

I hate Montana because they are always on the top, and they need to be brought down a peg or two. Montana doesn't feel the same way about us. MSU is their rival. I'd like to see us get a "real" rival, like U of P or even Eastern Washington, where there is mutual hatred and respect. We need something to really get us excited for certain games.

All it will take is to whip Montana up two years in a row and we will be their top rival!!
 
Oh, and if you happen to have any t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweaters, handbags, seat cushions, hats, flags, etc, that are maroon in color, you may want to go ahead and deposit those at your local Goodwill drop-off or recycling center.

Completely agree. A real rivalry goes both ways, and PSU doesn't have that.

BTW, feel free to hate the Ducks and Beavers while you're at it.

For those who followed the good ole days of the WAC (late 1970s-1998), you know exactly want I'm talking about.
