That Montana doesn't get the home cooking they got tonight. 17 more free throws. Eastern lost by 8 and was shooting 11-13 from the line. Imagine if the free throws would've been even.

With that being said, Montana was the more aggressive team in the 2nd half, and this is the game everyone wanted. The Sky will be represented well no matter who wins.

Let's go Weber!

No way was there home cooking. They only called half the fouls committed by Eastern. Their guards shoved off all night to get their shots off and not one offensive foul was called for that. We got hammered and they got away with murder. The fouls called were roughly even against both teams until about two minutes to go in the game when they fouled us a bunch. We got two shots a lot because they hammered us when we had a bunny.

Im sorry, but I stongly disagree with you, If Eastern didnt get called for half of thier fouls, than Montana didnt get called for 3/4s of thier fouls. It was so hard to watch last night and Im not even an Eastern fan. When an Eagle can go inside and get slapped on the arm no call and down the court Jamar or Cherry barely gets touched and they get an and one something is fishy, especailly that foul towards the end of the game where the Eastern player had picked up his dribble and layed the shot up while getting fouled and makes the basket, the ref takes his basket away but Eastern shoots free throws? If it was before the shot why is he shooting freethrows? No Eastern was not in the bonus yet either. Montana shot 32 Ft's compared to only 13 for the Eagles, the Griz more than doubled EWU's total, and Griz fans were complaining about the lack of fouls on Eastern?

It was increadibly one sided officiating last night and I dont ever want to see a Montana fan complain about that championship game last year again, cause if it wasnt for the free throw difference Montana would not be playing tonight.

I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THOSE SAME REFS TONIGHT

And I disagree with one thing you said bigpapa, Montana was not more aggressive in the 2nd half but they were allowed to play aggressive defense, Eastern was not.

EWU

FG's 26-55
3P's 3-13
FT's 11-13
REB's 31
TO's 13
PF's 23

UM

FG's 22-54
3P's 3-13
FT's 27-32
REB's 35
TO's 11
PF's 14

There is your difference

I have over five years of officating experience at the mens level and I can tell you a few calls can completely change the game. I am 100% sure the officals determined the game yesterday. When a defender is either backing up or moving sideways while maintaining his position and still gets a body foul called on him, they might as well just take off their jerseys and go home. Fouls arent just fouls they affect, points, momentum, foul trouble, but more importantly tells the defense not to play defense at all. 2 or 3 fouls can change the entire game. When I officated we had a simple rule. We would only call a foul if it was a sure thing and necessary to protect the integrity of the game, if not dont call it!!!

Eastern was clearly the better team yesterday!

I wanted Montana to win last night. I wanted the championship game that we are getting tonight. However, I agree about the officiating. It was a total homer job. For most of the night, I thought I was watching a BYU preseason game in Provo. :yikes:

With that said, when you are on the road, in the BSC, that is what you have to play through. The home floor advantage is greatest when you have weak officiating. I am sure that the BSC wanted their best refs for those TV games. Well, you saw the best the Sky has to offer. A little pathetic, isn't it? :shocking:

You would hope though that in a tournament, they would NOT try to favor the home team, and call as even a game as possible, there was NO balance in the fouls last night.

this was very important that griz and weber play. they need to. we didnt want to play ewu. they did not want to play psu. both teams barely won. hopefully tonight is interesting.

espn with a sellout is the environment we want.

Pretty sad when Eric Curry is considered the best Ref in ANY league.

Wildcat...I never said anything about how aggressive Montana was in the second half!!! HOW DARE YOU!! Don't you mean Papaskillz? Honestly, I didn't even watch the second half. So I don't know if Montana was more aggressive or not. I didn't watch, because I figured that the refs would keep montana in the game. I knew the Big Sky would do everything in their power to ensure that there was a Weber State vs. UM rematch. There were a number of iffy calls in our game too. Mahoney's pile drive on McMillian was a perfect no call...   But Odum committed a number of offensive fouls that weren't called, and I loved how Chehales was a constant moving screen. YIKES!! Gotta love the Big Sky and their refs.

I loved how Eastern came out of the gate though. Montana was like a deer in the headlights. Exactly how a team should play UM. Run at them!! Eastern is talented, but not a very good shooting team. The Eagles depend so much on creating turnovers and getting into transition. They are a team that shoots a lot of 3's, but have a so/so percentage. Imagine if they had Dean???

I know, I saw him there and I was like here we go  Eric Curry (shudders)

With our luck we will have Buzzcut, Cascas (or however you spell it) and Curry (shudders again)

UM wet dream... Casas, Buzz Cut, and Curry... YIKES!! It might happen. Ruben Ramos isn't much better. As a Weber fan I'm hoping for Bob, Kevin (gone forever), and baldy mcgee.

Why is that good for the Grizzlies? The Three Stouges are bad for all teams. It has nothing to do with Purple and White.

Hold on....Buzz Cut (Chris Rastetter) was one of the officials for the PSU game Tuesday, and (gulp) I hate to say it, but I hardly noticed him, which is the way it should be.
I also saw him doing a Pac-12 game in Calif a couple weeks ago.....go figure

Actually, Buzz Cut (Chris Rastetter) is one of the guys I would want to get for a road game. Some weber fans don't like him because he will make calls against the home team, unlike some other refs we all know. He may well be the best in the BSC. I hope he does the game tonight. The only bad thing is that he can't make up for the other two, whoever they might be. :coffee:

The guys you want are Ramos, Curry, Casas, Rastatter or Bill Kennedy. If you go to statsheet.com and look up the Big Sky officiating roster, those are the guys who are good enough to work in other, better leagues. Ramos works in 7 difference conferences, but 32 percent of his games are PAC-12. Curry works a third of his games in the Big Sky, and 28 percent in the Mountain West. (He was in the Big Ten for awhile, but must have been dropped by them as he's working almost exclusively in the West again this year). Casas works 20 percent of his games in the Mountain West, Rastatter 38 percent in the PAC-12 and Kenney 25 percent in the PAC-12 and 15 percent in the WAC. (Personally, I think Kennedy has seen better days -- I saw him on his way up to the big time, and I think we're watching him on his way down).

All of the rest of the Big Sky officials work primarily in the Big Sky, or in the Big Sky and one or two other, comparable leagues, like the Great West, WCAC or Big West. Some of the younger guys may be on their way up and worth getting in a big game, but some won't ever make it past the Big Sky level.
