Idaho State at Portland State

My thoughts:

Our secondary still has a long ways to go. Several times, Yost had terrible throws that were completed, and penalties hurt us. But they were better overall, so maybe there's hope.

McDonagh. Enough said. 6 TD's should have him in the running for Big Sky POW. I mean, when was the last time a QB, a freshman at that, ran for 4 TD's in a game, three in the first half?

The rest of our running game didn't get going early, but we poured it on at the end. Good to see Malcolm Johnson score two TD's at the end.

Having Monahan back was great. He made some nice catches and got his foot inbounds to get the receptions a couple of times.

No problems with the long-snapping. I think Canaday has settled into his role, and Fernandez wasn't tested last night. No high snaps on ST, and maybe one or two on the offense.

We only got three sacks, so ISU was doing a good job blocking up there against our line. Plus, their ground game, when they used the delay or draw, was gashing us. We can't let other teams do that to us.

I think we got lucky with ISU on the defensive side. Yost's receivers were dropping a lot of passes; had they held on, I think this one would have been closer.

has there been any gripes about the Vikings running up the score?

I also downloaded the Youtube video

I don't think there would be. Starters were pulled late in the 3rd quarter.

In the end, Milhollin, Carter and Ramirez all came in! And all connected on a pass or two. The Carter/McDonaugh combination works well. That trick play was fun to watch.

Thumbs up to the pep band! :thumb: All I can say more about the pep band is "finally!" Thomas Carter's move to WR was a brilliant move and I would like to see Malcolm Johnson get more playing time. All in all, a great performance by the Viks. Hope this victory can enable PSU to get an upset victory down at Cal Poly! Roll Viks!

I hope that we stomp the living crap out of the Bengals on Saturday. The team and supporters need a beat down.

Jeez Marty. I wish you would have made this post prior to North Dakota instead of waiting for Idaho State. :D

Loved this game. I know Idaho State is a mess with the APR and reduced schollies and such. But I loved how They played Kieran. Connor was so effective running yet until this game Kieran hadn't done much running. It reaalyy opened up the O.

The SUU game still really stings but this result helps for now.

We have two weeks to figure out Tim Walsh's CPU team. Can Nigel outcoach him or will he get another schooling?

Cal Poly is a solid program this year. Ordinarily I'd say that we match up well since we have a strong run defense and that's Cal Poly's bread and butter. However, I can see quite a bit of play action being inserted into their game plan with our secondary.
