The recent home stand showed glimpses of promise. Can they carry it out on the road? Probably not if recent history is any indicator.
The home losses are back breakers…particularly Portland State that should have been a W. Maybe one stub instead of two with Northern Colorado and Idaho and the Wildcats would have been competing for a two seed with an outside chance to win a regular season. Now they could fall to 7th with two losses or be jumbled up in 4th to 6th with a split. An unlikely shot at the 2nd seed with a road sweep and help…but highly doubtful.
If the old postseason format was still in place, there would be some very interesting basketball this weekend. Unfortunately it’s the crap format of neutral site and everyone plays…so it will be a walk across the finish line.
I can’t see the Wildcats stringing wins to take the Tournament…but it’s pretty open. Wildcats have currently beaten every team at least once other than Portland State. Stars would have to align, maybe they are due.
