Idaho to join Big Sky in all sports but football

All fine posts, really. But there is a bigger question that needs to be answered here...

Does the Vandal emblem get added to the bottom of the forum page or not?

ANSWER: I would think so. This is an Eagle athletics forum, not just for football.

Idaho rejoining the Big Sky in Olympic sports is actually more important to the Sky than even their football... It eliminates the lone wolf schedule in basketball, volleyball which means no more Tuesday/Wednesday league games in February that always confuse people as to what the schedule makers were thinking.

its my understanding that this was the broader issue, olympics sports scheduling. if the Vandals eventually decided to join in all sports then that would just be a bonus.
Maybe a bonus...if it happens. I feel for the lesser programs like Davis for example ;) , how do they ever get up to being competitive if the BSC continues to take more established schools back in.

Bringing in Idaho shuts down the WAC and makes the Big Sky the defacto #3 football conference in the west.
That is why they allowed CalPoly and UCDavis as football only and why they went after ND(to appease Montana)
No more WAC = no real threat or place for FCS teams to move up to....

Whats Idaho's best bet for filling their schedule thats still compliant with the ncaa indy rules?
My understanding is Idaho needs 5 home games, 4 of which must be against FBS opponents in order to be considered an FBS Independent. Home games in the back half of the season will be a tough sell. The road ahead of them will not be easy. My guess is they will be in the BSC for the 2015 season (2 years of Indy status) unless they are saved by an FBS invite somehwere (long shot at this point). :twocents:

blanchette is one of your guys so i expect him to talk shit. Idaho will be able to get bodies to come to the kibbie dome its will just cost us a monetary fee (that we pick up from the big boys body bag games).

Most importantly we have been given the option to explore your confernce we havent signed on the dotted line. we just lifted our skirt up a little bit for yah. Now foolerton is frothing at the mouth hope fully if we join you send SUU, NCU, NAU, Idaho St, and SAc to the wac. So we don't have to play teams i think our in a lower group.

Don't get me wrong idaho is on par with the EW, UM, MSU, UND crowd but we have to try and play FBS to save face.
If the WAC is dropping football as a sponsored sport, they will have to sponsor another men’s sport (say men’s soccer) to be a compliant D-1 conference and retain its NCAA tournament auto-bids. If that is the case, only baseball (primary concern, already a WAC sponsored sport) and men’s soccer (affiliates could be used to fill out the membership ranks) playing BSC members would make sense to join the WAC. Those schools are Sac State, UNC, and UND (SUU dropped baseball upon gaining BSC membership). I don't see any of those schools being willing to take a huge risk on the dysfunctional WAC.

The other option is the WAC becoming an FCS conference (this means Idaho and NMSU “drop down”) then the WAC can invite whichever BSC programs they want. I don’t think either of these options happen and the WAC will most likely fold.
