If we miss the conference tourney, is Hill gone?

Honest question. Let's be real. This team had projections of finishing 3rd in the conference this year, by both the coaches and media. Meaning we are really under-achieving. Hill is giving instructions to the players, but they're not listening. They have NO respect for him. I say yes, he either quits or is fired. Time to move on.

Either he's a bad coach or the players just aren't smart and/or aren't listening to him at all. Either way, it reflects very poorly on him.

He won't be gone though, who would they get?

But I agree the team isn't any good they are what their record says they are so it's either A.) talent and bad coaching or B.) No talent and good coaching but probably a little of both.

This season has been a huge disapointment though. Starting with that terrible non conference schedule. A bunch of loses on the road and then 2 home game against NAIA schools. It's like they tried to not make this season at all exciting. :(

I'll never forgive him for not capitalizing on our success after the '11 season. We had the campus and community buzzing about Bears basketball. Something that we haven't had since the late 80's. Then a pathetic season last year and we've gotten worse since then. How can you not carry that momentum?

Yep, very dissapointing. Two sucky seasons in a row! I had high hopes but even I am fading fast. We just don't have the kahunas to compete with the top teams! Where do we go from here?

I think UNC has the talent to be a top 4 team in the conference now. I picked you guys to be 3rd in my preseason picks. I think UNC has some really solid players and experience. Im wondering if its coaching as to why you are stuggling so much. Your pre season schedule Im sure didn't help either. That was brutal. Im not going to like I was worried about the game last Saturday. If UNC is on they are the best offensive team in the conference. I hope you can turn in around and make the tournamnet and beating Montana on Thursday would be nice. :)

No chance that Hill is gone after this year.

Year 1 he wins the Big Sky. I know, they were Boyle's players... but he was an assistant when they were all recruited. And he still had to coach them that year. That buys up goodwill... and a low to mid-major, that should buy you at least 3-4 years unless things seriously implode.

Last year was not pretty... but they lost almost everyone from the championship winning team. All that was left was Proctor (who was a good leader and solid but a role player) and Lloyd (who got kicked off the team midway through the year. The rest was young guys with limited experience... after Lloyd and Hawk-Harris were booted they had one senior and no juniors. It's tough to win like that.

This year, expectations were probably a little higher than they should have been with no seniors on the roster. It's tough to win in the Big Sky without that experience, because the players simply aren't good enough. They have been very inconsistent all year, but that happens with a young team. They have also made big strides, especially in the last couple weeks.

Again, they will return everyone next year. It's not like he is not bringing in good players... they are just slowly maturing. That happens. Now, if they miss the conference tournament this year, and they don't look any better next year than they did this year (and miss the tournament again), then you can talk about letting him go. But after this year would be way, way too premature.

We're really underperforming this year. Last year, I understand. We were a very young team. This year, no excuse.

I thought they were a bunch of underachievers but after watching them play the last 6 games or so that they look like they are starting to gel and have some consistency. Barden is playinng awesome and Unruh and Svihovec have been great . Even O'sborne has been picking up the pace. I am seeing a lot of good things on the court or is it the beer?? :o

I agree they are playing better and a strong finish will make me feel better about next year but it's too little too late for this season and frankly I lost interest about a month ago unfortunatly.

I kind of did as well (lose interest) but I doubt there are quality coaches beating down the door to coach in Greeley so I think patience may be the better course to take.

Ok, so how do you pessimistic 2 see tonights game with North Dakota ?? Or are you going to watch The Batchelor ? lol ! I think its another strong game for the Bears !

And after looking at the rest of the schedule and the seeding for the tournament, I can actually see us getting to the semi"s !!! Chew on that one. Go Bears !

My issue is more of a matter of convenience as well. I get up at 5:00am every morning (east coast) and it's hard for me to stay up and watch or listen to UNC games so it's difficult to follow basketball live.

Another choke tonight this team is so frustrating... at this point I'll be happy when this season is over.

What a huge disapointment this season has been.

Boy did I miss the freakin boat. What a shame !

This is horrible. I don't blame yesterdays game on coaching, just bad shooting. I do however blame coaching for the overall, underachieving season. I hope we don't make the conference tourney just so it's a reason to fire Hill. Give the job to one of the assistants. The players have quit on BJ Hill.
