Illinois State

I think they're better than NDSU this year. They completely dismantled UNI today. Next week will be a huge challenge.

I think this is going to be a shootout. I watched quite a bit of their game today, and wow...I was watching it thinking I'd much rather play UNI.

And I thought UNI looked scary against SFA.

That being said, we are a good team as well. We are far from guaranteed to win, but I know this team can compete with anyone in the field. Can't wait!!!

They are the same team we've faced in Cheney previously. Averaging 236/yds on the ground if I remember correctly what Larry said on the post game and over 200 through the air. One advantage is obviously home field, especially if we get them Friday night to accomodate ESPN2.

But I want to rejoice in our 4th win in a row and 2nd this season against UM. For a moment thought we were in Missoula today with some of the calls but as Bill Murray said in "Stripes", it just doesn't matter, our guys won that game when Ronnie blocked that punt. The rest was just conversation as a friend of mine used to say. Just kidding but the defense stood tall and Q, VA and the O-line were awesome.

Score by Quarters 1 2 3 4 Score

Illinois State...... 10 7 10 8 - 35
Eastern Washington.. 10 14 14 13 - 51

didnt get a chance to see any other playoff games today but it sounds like Ill State is the real deal. should be another great battle on Saturday!

Agreed. Illinois State is going to be good and we are going to have to play well to win. I believe we are the better team, but need to prove it on the field with our best play.

It will be like VA vs VA....their QB Tre Roberson was the Indiana Player of the Year as a senior, starts for the University of Indiana as a Freshman, and then transfers to Illinois State. I watched him today and it was like I was watching VA. He can run, pass, and create something out of nothing. Pretty electric...at least today.

But you guys are legit and a force to be reckoned with as well. Should be a game!

Statistically a very solid team, ranked 20 in both total offense and defense. They have a great running back in Coprich, but it sounds like the QB can throw it too.

... Is really good. We'll need to step it up next week!

That's all Dopa? Why do we need to "step it up"? What elements? Play calling? Execution? Situational awareness? Not saying there isn't room for improvement, but your initial post is devoid of insight.

Gonna watch the Ill St game again to solidify my impressions. Off the top of my head, they are physical, offense mirrors our own with fewer play makers, not overly fast. Watched a lot of football yesterday, so some of this is a jumble. Believe if the Eag's play at the same level as this week, they beat the Redbirds in a close game. Will flesh this out in the prediction thread.

I'm not sure our D could play much better than they did yesterday, but we'll need a lot more offensive production than the 183 yards VA threw for yesterday to beat them. The thing is, we played a team yesterday that had a very solid defense and knows our team pretty well. I doubt Illinois State's defensive line and LB's are as good as Montana's. We'll score more on them than we did on Montana in either game.

We'll need a similar defensive effort as we had yesterday. ISU-R scores a ton of points.

Looking at their schedule and nobody jumps out at me as being a tough game . . except for the one they just won.

Ill St. is a good team, as is NDSU. I think UNI, like the rest of the MVFC excluding the top two, was a little over-rated this year. A bunch of one-dimensional running teams that were propped up by their OOC record against a group of really poor teams. UNI was a prime example of that.

If we can get past Ill State, I like our chances. I think Nooga will beat UNH this weekend, and we beat Nooga in Cheney. NDSU can definitely be had as well. I like our chances.

Ill. St. beat, what I believe, was a pretty solid Northern Iowa team rather convincingly. They led 34-7 after three qrts. We will indeed have our hands full and will need all three phases of the game to be "on" to advance (a little luck wouldn't hurt either!).

Are you not capable of own analysis?

How about this: the team who blocks and tackles better will probably win.

That's rich. I guess now that you don't have anything to bitch about with the defense, you got nothing? What a dick.
