In-season tournaments

Has PSU ever hosted a in-season tournament? The type I'm talking about would be 4 teams, 4 games over 2 nights.

The format being
First night
Team A plays Team B at say 6 local time
Team C plays Portland State, 30 minutes after the first game

Second night
Losers from first night play each other at 6 local time in the consolation game
Winners from the first play for the championship 30 mintes after the consolation game

Wyoming used to have a similar tourny in Casper called the Cowboy Shootout but had the get rid of the format due to costs and no one good enough wanted to come to central Wyoming in late December when the chances of a bad blizzard happening is really good.

We still have the Shootout but it's a one-night thing in Casper. The ladies play in the 6 p.m. game then the guys play 30 minutes afterwards.....

There's a story as to why the Shootout was even started in the first place back in 1982 or 83. Short version.......politics.

Huh.

I don't even remember PSU playing in the Far West Classic, which was held in Portland and ran by UO and OSU. I'd think that probably happened once or twice.

Otherwise, I doubt it.

I thought so. I just though almost every school hosted it's own is-0season tourny at one time or another. I know the Montana schools hosted their own tournys. in the 1990s.

Incidently, Wyoming was in the Far West Classic hosted by Oregon and Oregon State a few times. The last appearance was in the 1970s.
