Fuller gets home mid-April, Johnson gets home mid-May. Both will be on campus June 4 to begin summer school and weight/bball workouts.

I didn't mean to forget Kozak--he was really great, but like you, I feel he played out of position due to what the team needed. Next year's team has more bodies and more skill level. Time will tell what they achieve, but new blood always brings in new excitement and effort.

IMO, no matter who steps up to be starters next fall, it will be very important to develop some depth in our rotation. My feelings are that 10 or 11 guys should be in the early rotation, that 9 to 10 guys should still be in the rotation in January, and that the rotation should only be reduced to 8 in the last two weeks of the season. Otherwise, we could end up with exactly the same thing we had this year. I know that everybody likes to win in the early season, but I feel that development is far more important for winning at the end of the season.

Barring injuries, we will be much deeper in the front court. However, I think we should expect some injuries, it just happens. Our guard line will be talented, but not real experienced. I think it could be a bit of a rollercoaster ride in the back court. I think that scoring will be even less of an issue next year. The issues will still be rebounding and defense. :coffee:

I'm loving the positivity!
I didn't know about Court's return being so close to the beginning of the season. Cannon looked great after his mission. He came in looking like a top level division 1 wrestler his Freshman year! Hopefully Johnson and Fuller will come in with the same drive (and keep it).
I am also excited about Barnes and Kupsas. When you have that many schools recruiting a kid you definitely don't pay attention to the amount of stars he has been given by Rivals, VC and ESPN!

I can't imagine the aches and pains those 7 kids must have been experiencing at the end of this season. Sometimes I felt like I was watching "the Iron 5" from the McCarthy coaching era, back when most of the scholarship players quit on him.

I'm really hoping for some depth and chemistry this next season.

It's funny what a couple of weeks (and a University of Maryland - Baltimore County win) can do for your attitude. It was a tough ending to the year. I think better days are ahead and I'll be back with my season tickets and full support. In fact, I was looking forward to next year, even as this year began.

One thing you can almost surely count on Wooly, next year's team will have good chemistry. It's a rare Rahe coached team that doesn't. Weber State is a special place. And that gets reflected in how much passion the players show year after year, and how often the players talk about the friendships they've developed. If you read why Kupsas choose Weber State, you know he felt it -- and it led to his decision.

Now that things are a bit calmer I want to pay tribute to the this year's seniors. I'm not sure that I've seen anybody do more with less athletic ability than Dusty Baker. The guy was a warrior. He played hard, accepted his role off the bench and on some nights even achieved a level of stardom. Guys with natural passing instincts are rare. Dusty had them and I truly admired and enjoyed that. Richardson was a catch and shoot guy who had a great 3-pt touch. He was called on to be the big dog on defense and to try and get to the basket more this year. I'm not sure either fit his overall style. But we watched him get better and contribute more each year. I really enjoyed watching this year's team and I seem to be in a minority there, at least on this board. I think many somehow missed on the great offensive firepower we displayed that's even reflected in the high offensive rankings we had nationally. So, I'll raise a toast to the 2017/18 Wildcats while looking forward to a deeper more talented team for 18/19.

I'm with you all the way Pirate. Richardson stepped up his game this year and gave everything he had, every game. Baker did the same. Both of those guys have been high contributing members of our team since they came on campus. They are class acts and deserve respect from everyone.

There are likely to be one or two more guys from this years team who will not return next year and my feelings are similar for them. Even the guys at the end of the bench, who may not have seen much of the floor, worked hard and gave everything they had for this team. They also get my full respect. That includes all the walk-ons.

Yes, next year I expect improvement. I expect that every year. Much has to go right for improvement to happen, but I believe in our coaching staff. Whether we have all of our coaches back or have some new additions, I believe we will be much improved next year. I will go with that until proven otherwise. That is how I roll. I know that some posters hate optimism, but I don't care.

Fast to forget the that game vs UNC much olds? Richardson went score less during his last college game, not really worthy of everything he had...

So because he went scoreless in one game we shouldn't applaud his effort and what he contributed to the team? :dunce: :wall: :ohno: :blah: :willybs:

Ryan Richardson and Dusty Baker are awesome guys who worked hard and consistently for the Weber State program. Their efforts should be respected and honored, like all guys who came through the program and gave great effort.

Taking shots at the players crosses a line with me. Richardson ended up in the Top 10, I believe, in 3 pointers at Weber State. Went into the last few games with a shoulder injury and played his heart out for us this year.

This is how you pay tribute to a senior who played so well over the course of 4 years? Pathetic.

This post is an embarrassment to our board and says more than I care to know about the views and character of the person who wrote it.
