Does anyone think the problem is the staff?
How many opportunities is Daprato going to get WR are terrible and special teams suck

Ingram anyone know that he doesn't have a degree?

Almond- never played college football and has zero experience.
 
Od23 has some points. However Ingram has been here for 6 years and was in the JC ranks prior to that. Almond has some limited JC experience and will be entering his 3rd season here next season. I’ve already vented about DaPrato in another thread.

The thing to keep in mind is the assistants/position coaches aren’t paid much money so good ones will be hard to keep and there will always be some turnover. It’s Sperbeck’s responsibility to determine if his staff needs changes and to find replacements when coaches leave.
 
I will give almond a pass, but I would just like to see some up and comers. The pay I say is limited but to me you can get some good coaches that are exciting and new. How about some lower level guys at Universities.

OH23...not to jump on you but please give some reasons for statements? I just hate seeing blanket statements not providing expamples or reasons Why...

So please express your thoughts and comments, I just ask that you have some "meat" to your statements.

- Special teams improved alot over last years (2011) output (if your basing it on a single game (Davis) then I would suggest you look at a larger set of data and compare trends.
- The WR out put also improved, top half of BSC, and this is a Very young group, Mo was the only guy with alot of experience...not defending DePrato, but much of the prior years issues were on the HC for changes in offensive styles, year after year.
- Ingram not having a degree...uuuhhhh...are you saying that a degree makes you better at your job? :rofl: I actually have to give him accolades for helping find/develop a younf true freshman into the mix this year, along with the success of a JC transfer.
- As for Almond, many coaches werent players, or guys who played significant time...doesn't mean they can't teach, I know of many "Players" who couldn't coach....
 
I maybe harsh but one thing I find tough is that Coach Sperbeck wouldn't hire anyone currently on staff to be the OC after them being there for 6 years

This I agree wiht you on...but it's also expected...

When you hire an up and coming OC or DC, you hope they excel...usually means success for your program. I truly thing Coach P is really good, and I expect him to use Sac State as a stepping stone...just hoping he is here for at least 3 more years.

How about this scenario...

We make the playoffs the next 2 seasons, while the offense puts up staggering numbers...then Coach Sperbeck gets a MWC offer he can't refuse, and then Coach P gets promoted to HC of the Hornets...???

Now these are points... :D

After watching many of the FCS playoff games...I am convinced that our SP is no better or worse than some of the top 10 schools...easy chip shots missed...as for WR and QB play, our WR's and QB's are more than above average...again this was a young squad, this season, and they already out performed the numbers put up in a any one season over the last 4 or 5 years. If in 1 or 2 years you see the out put go down, then I may agree with you...the issue was the offensive philosophy not the players.

I don’t think it’s harsh. If anyone that was on the staff in the 2011 season had any idea of how to be an OC, they would have stepped up and shown it after Adams departed for SJSU. Sperbeck realized the need and went out and hired someone with OC experience who brought in a system that utilized the current strengths of the roster. Promoting someone on the current staff who would not have gotten the job done would have been a disservice to everyone and would have inched Sperbeck closer to the door.

Sorry I know for a fact you must have a BA to coach in college, I don't know how Sperbeck pulled that one off, ok we have Charlie Weis, Charlie Weis also started working and learned at Notre Dame and then worked with the New York Giants, lets not put Sierra College in that same boat,

OD23...I think you are mistaken on this one, or maybe were mis-informed. True some positions on a staff may require you to have at least a BA, but most not. If for example you are teaching a course like "Offensive Theory" or "Football 101" then you may have to have that BA. Typically a University "likes" to have the Head Coach, Coordinators and position coaches with degrees...but this is negotiable. Many position coaches don't have degrees or are working to get their degree...just like any job field, it helps, but not required.

That was too easy....Like I said...it's not common, just not required. Most colleges say it's required, but give room to the HC to bring in "his guys". If you go through each program from top to bottom, my guess is that you will find that 99.875% at the FBS have degrees, 95.314% at the FCS, 93.234% at DII, 91.456% at DIII and closer to 82.345% at the NAIA and Juco levels...now if you want to be an Equipement Manager at Univ of Miami I think you can get in with a HS diploma :D
 
Ya, this is my point, lets keep this with Division 1 programs please, we are talking full time coaching position not the RB coach at who gives a crap state but we are talking about our RB coach and recruiting coordinator, oh really going to get the guys we want, puts us in a bad spot, how can we go into a home and say education is important to us and out recruit Davis and Poly
