Initiating a "Balanced Offense"

Is this a serious conversation? Gubrud is our guy. Hands down. No question about it. Literally, not even a reasonable conversation.
We all have our opinions. BTW I am serious with my comment. It is all about competition.

Fair enough, but think about it this way...

You would recommend benching a senior that has won as many games as Gubrud, a kid who has had many 500 yard plus offensive games, was a Big Sky offensive player of the year, for a kid with one start where he compiled less than 200 total yards?

Barriere may be the future, but Gubrud is the now.

I would if he gets beat out in spring.

They may be equal in strengths, quickness and athletic desire, but Barriere will have to overcome Gabrud's experience and proven leadership ability, decision-making to ordain clutch passes, and runs for first downs and touchdowns. I'm glad that Eric made good in his first start last season and that he'll have opportunities in '18. Wish I could be in Cheney for spring ball.

Any intel regarding our kicking game this fall? GO EAGS!

Granted, Barriere is much younger and far less experienced, but when I saw them last Summer, it wasn't even close. Gubrud was better in pretty much every single way. He throws better, more elusive, and makes better decisions (except when he's drinking).

I don't think it makes sense for either guy to declare that there's some sort of competition. For Barriere, you'd just be lying to him and that does him no good. Let him prepare for when he eventually becomes the main man. For Gubrud, it just lets him off the hook from being "the guy, the leader," and that does him no good.

That said, a lot changes in a year, so it's safe to assume that gap has closed a bit.

(Time to forget the subject of your parenthetical phrase. Agreed cost paid in full. Subject education complete.) Incredible, extended 2018 season coming up. GO EAGS!

Lol... agreed! 'nuff said.

Don't stop there is nothing else to read. don't make me go to Egriz.
Someone tell me about spring ball. what changes to expect. Are we bigger? faster?
Has Whitworth agreed to a home and home yet. Of course we would have to travel first?
Will it be warm enough for Vic to attend practice?
Will this be the year we start a tip jar in the beer area for funds to replace the turf?
Will WSU have the same coaching staff in Sept that they have now? Do they all wear name tags so whathisname can recognize them?
So many questions, Were are the answers?

Did Coach Best employ any "new" offensive formations during 2017 with the goal of achieving a successful offensive run-pass balance? (I missed 9 games) Will the Eagles be utilizing a fullback and tailback combination for most running plays this year? Will basic game plan including more run calls on first downs?

I doubt they'll show many two back sets except in short yardage situations. All the recruiting has worked towards being a single back spread, so changing that would be a pretty tall order at this point.

That said, there are a lot of teams that run the ball well and for a lot of yards out of a single back formation.
