Injuries

Looks like we have caught the Injury bug again this year.

Edwards is out with a leg injury for an uncertain amount of time, but doubt he will even suit up for the Griz. Looks like Clark, Mitchell, and Hill will see more field time with Edwards injury, they should all fill in nicely as they each bring unique talents to the game.

Zach Johnson is questionable and so are Paul Ena and JC Agen. Look like we are thin at the LB position this week if Johnson or Agen don't play, but we do have some solid other LB's that I'm sure will step up.

Weber is always physical and injuries seem to happen in games against Weber, just look at Mcneese state. It could also be the fact we started out with 3 on the road, 2 against FBS teams.

Looking forward to a Griz stomping this weekend, can't wait!

Edwards hurt himself on the first play against Weber, Johnson hurt himself in the first series on Defense. Not sure about Agen. Ena was out last week and hopefully will play but we will see.

Injuries happen, it just seems to happen a lot to EWU the last 2 years.

And no worries....we will still beat the Griz!

Do you know what the exact injuries are to Edwards and Johnson?

Haven't a clue, I know Edwards hurt his knee and Johnson hurt the hamstring, know idea what the injuries are though...

SE 174,
Those Receivers you mentioned Ashton Clark, Cory Mitchell, Shaq. Hill, also Nick Lenoue, are very capable Players. They will not let us down. I've seen them in action, we can be very Proud. Sent couple of Pics about 11:30am, testing of the Scoreboard. Will be back out for practice at 4pm. Vic

The depth at WR should minimize the impact of an injured star like Edwards. HOWEVER, the loss of Agen and Johnson (either or BOTH) is potentially huge. It seems from past seasobn that it only takes a couple of injuries on defense for Eastern to turn from very good to very pourous.

True...but IIRC we seem to have a bunch of DE type bodies that might be able to convert to LB.

Jordan Pulu for example... was moved to DE and is redshirting. If it comes down to it, we might need to pull it and have him play LB which is what he played in HS. At 240+ lbs, he's a load, too.

Before we go into LB panic mode, let's consider that Agen is more of a coverage LB. We still have Hamlin (led the team last year and is the current leader), Washburn (an experienced senior at MLB), McCarthy (who has been impressive), Williams (who was 3rd in team tackles last year with only 4 starts and who had 8 tackles against Weber), and that's just going into the two deep. It's not ideal to have Johnson out but all those guys got experience last year when he was gone for the bulk of the season. Breathe!

Disagree HannahO. All those guys you mention are very good players, no doubt. But Zach Johnson is another level for this conference. Eastern getting another year for him was the literal equivalent of getting a 5-star transfer for a season. He's big-time in a league where big-timers are huge difference-makers. Losing a guy like him can be the difference between winning and losing a big game.

Dopa, I think we're in agreement that losing Zack is not good ... my point was to those that were hyperventilating, handwringing or talking about converting DL guys over, that we're not so thin in the LB corps as they may be envisioning. This isn't 2009 when we got so banged up at LB that we only had four guys at the position when we played NAU. We'd like to have Zack, we'd like to have Edwards, and Ena too but it's not looking so hot for that prospect and the next guy will step up.

I believe Jordan Pulu played in the game at Weber St. at DE so his RS may be already used.

If the participation report in the game stats is correct, Jordan Pulu did not play at Weber.

Have redshirts even been practicing? I have met a lot of redshirt freshman who are just moving into the residence halls. Every redshirt I have met has just started practicing.
