Injuries

All red shirt freshman reported to EWU on August 6th. From what I hear from my son, some players have been used for the practice squad.

Have redshirts even been practicing? I have met a lot of redshirt freshman who are just moving into the residence halls. Every redshirt I have met has just started practicing.

Redshirts all practice and are the majority of the scout teams. During the summer, guys stay in a different dorm and then move into their permanent residence once the quarter begins (this week). The only guys who are not allowed to practice are the props.

I was under the impression that 'invited walkons' could begin practice early, but that other walkons had to wait until school started to begin working out with the team ?? It seems there are always quite a few new walkons about now.

oh yeah, I forgot about the walk-ons. I can't remember quite how that works but I know it has to do with the start of school. Not sure about the difference between standard and preferred as far as eligibility goes, or if there is one.

One of the players I met said he is on full scholarship.

Could have been an issue with the clearinghouse. Those guys are notoriously slow about clearing players, even if all of the paperwork is in on time. If one thing is late or filed incorrectly, then it can mean a long delay for the kid. It happens every single year.

HannahO,
Off the subject. #18(Grant) was on the news lat night, him and 56(Evan) was talking about the Weber Win, and the game this weekend. Had to give u and hubby a "Shout Out". Great. See you Saturday. Vic

To All,
Having this blog, we don't know who reads it. One of our Former Player LB, he was here he had an injury graduated. I got a (PM) yesterday and today, he is so happy to know how we are keeping up with what is going on. I will not use his real name, on the blog Eag42. He is so busy, or he would have come to the Griz Game. Hoping he can come in sometime next year. He said "Go Eagles Baby"  :notworthy: :notworthy:   I remember this young man, we spoke just the way I talk with our present Players. Great to hear from him, and know he is there Protecting us and our Country. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

He is now serving our country in 82nd Airborne Division, stationed in Fort Bragg, NC. Should he give me permissiion to put his name on the blog, I will. Nice to know our former Players are out there doing great things for us and our Country. Another Player was supposed to go to Naval Academy to become a Pilot. He played with Eric Meyer as a QB. Let us all pray for our Service Members Safety, and thank the for their Service. Vic Wallace

Try to remember that although Bronson didn't start much during the Weber game, he is probably going to be healthier during the Montana game. He won't be fresh off an injury and, hopefully, will be in better shape. If this is so, our run game will be given an extra click or two.

As I understand the walk-on situation is that preferred can start practice when the regulars start...regular walk-ons start when school starts..has to do with limits on rosters(only a certain number of preferred are allowed as well as regular).

Just spoke with the kid. He told me that he is not cleared yet due to his current academic status. My bad guys.

Last year Kaufman and the injury epidemic, this year Edwards, Ena, Johnson, etc. Seems like 2010 has been the only year in recent history that the team has remained relatively healthy. Seriously, why do we always have so many star players go down every year?

What is the nature of Edward's injury? It would suck if both he and Johnson were done for their careers.

What have you heard? I was hearing that Johnson might be good to go this week. He ran off the field last week, if that means anything. Edwards is supposedly out for a month. Ena is also supposedly probable for this week...???

Eastern seems really slow to report injuries. Although that's probably good news, because last year the news on Kaufman and Johnson being done for the season came out in a press release. Not seeing any new pressers is likely good news.
