Don't call timeouts at the end of the game coach if you don't want to get scored on again......it's not like EWU was throwing the ball to score.

“Personally, I probably would have taken a knee,” Keeler said. “But we scheduled a football game. If we’re put in that position, then that is what it is. Everyone runs their programs differently. I think, possibly, with style points and everything, those things are always taken in account.”

Beau just tweeted that he regrets that lat touchdown:

"A lot to be proud of yesterday. The last TD is not one of them. Caught up in the emotion. Kneeling down next time. I need to be better."

I was surprised too but totally fine with the decision as per all the reasons previously stated. I think they deserved to have the score run up on them after the way they played.

Long time reader, first time commentor. Everyone in stadium knew play calls were going to be dives up the middle. Don't call timeout & extend the game. Better yet, SHSU just needs to make a tackle. Great game yesterday. Great atmosphere.

Welcome to the board, and totally agree with your comments.

“That quarterback is really special,” the Kats coach said. “He’s a young man that made a lot of big throws. He really did. But he got himself out of a lot of really big trouble, too. He’s legitimately the best player at this level and we saw his A-game today for sure.”

No. No you didn't.

#1-good for Beau. Nothing wrong with kicking someone's ass and leaving no chance of a miracle. Keeler calling time out showed they were hoping for one. But really stupid coaching move to call time out with less than 1:00. We got the ball with about 2:30 and they had 2 time outs left. So not only did those dirty cats deserve it, Keeler probably caused some SHSU supporters to question the quality of their coach. The complete lack of discipline is a direct reflection of the coach and that TO left me scratching my head.
#2-further evidence that Keeler's coaching might be a little suspect is he didn't do a lot of prep for this game. If he thought that was Vernon's A game, he apparently didn't watch any film from last year.
#3- good for Beau putting in Jordan after SHSU complained about Vernon's helmet. He could have called a running play to be safe but knew Jordan is solid. Throwing that td was a good dash of salt in their weak attempt to stop us. Maybe Keeler can get some kind of protest because it's not fair that EWU has two good qb's and SHSU doesn't have one.

My prediction for the rest of the season, we're going to get very good. Other teams on our schedule should be very concerned, including UW. SHSU will implode. They definitely have athletes but no discipline and all those transfers will spend the rest of the year in a power struggle. Their locker room is a miserable place. They simply won't recover.

 Post of the year nomination right there.

On another note, they banned me over on katfans.com, and I wasn't even trolling them. Talk about butt-hurt.

Really? I antagonize them all week and I'm not banned.

Congratulations on the win. Hard not to win when you only get called for 1 penalty all game. Wow.

Quit making excuses. Champions are good enough to overcome poor officiating and in your case, lack of discipline...

Your DBs had to hold or they would have been burnt many more times for TDs. Hell, our receivers had an uncharacteristic performance, dropping passes they will certainly catch the rest of this season. The score should have been more lopsided.

GreatDayToBeAnEagle,
I must disagree with you about the last TD. I am glad we went for it, (1) It help me with my prediction, we will defeat them by 21 points, (2) If SHSU had an opportunity to do what we did, they would have done it. This is College Games, it up to the Coaches to make the decision to go or not to go for a TD, I agree with Coach Baldwin. We can agree to disagree. Now where are the Coaches lunch going to be at Northern Quest today? Heard yesterday it had changed from regular location. Vic Wallace

I thought we were trying to run out the clock by running the ball. But they absolutely could not stop Jalen Moore. And I was just bewildered by the time out call. If we would have been getting two or three yards a run, the time would have run off the clock. But when Jalen got to the 6 inch, there is no way you can take a knee there. If the Kats would have stopped the big runs, the touchdown wouldn't have happened. It's not like Baldwin would have kicked a FG before time expired! You can't deny a RB who goes almost 40 yards in a couple of plays the last six inches to paydirt!
