Good schedule for next season, 6 home games is nice with 2 close roadies. 8 of 12 games without having to board a plane.

A lot of SDSU players will probably follow Rogers to Pullman via the portal. Good news for us.

That sounds a bit high, Kadeezy. But perhaps the new staff and the new roster will get together and justify that. If it pans out, that would be wonderful. My personal supposition? It will take a couple of years, but given the time, our new staff will get us there and we'll be back in the championship chase....
The days of waiting for a roster to develop for eventual success are over as shown by Hornet nations reluctance to consider the circumstances of the '24 season. Coach Marion needs to win, and win now, or the entire staff should be let go and we do this whole coaching hire merry-go-round again. The precedent has been set.

I feel pretty confident that Marion will be able to re-build the blueprint that AT couldn't maintain beyond one season, really.
The hard-on you have for Thompson is hilarious! As is your bitterness towards everyone that recognized his shortcomings as a HC. Even he recognized, hence voluntarily resigning! Yet here you are, bitter and chippy as ever, still wanting to fight an unwinnable fight.
Seriously, if you really want to keep re-visiting and going down this road, try laying out and presenting a sound defense for AT. I know that you can't do it! But by all means give it your best shot.
Troy Taylor inherited a program in 2019 that was 2-8 the season before he got there. They were 20-35 during Sears tenure from 2014-2018. More importantly, they were 13-26 in the Big Sky during those 5 seasons, with barely a win against a conference title contender. They were 2-3 against UCD, the losses coming by blowout.
However, Taylor immediately turns all that around, going 9-4 with a postseason appearance. More importantly, Taylor's first team goes 7-1 in conference play. They then go on to post a 23-1 conference record over the duration of his 3 season tenure and were 3-0 against UCD with two double-digit wins. All while Thompson was part of that staff.
Then AT takes over and despite all the holdovers and blueprint being set, manages to lose not one, not two, not three, but four conference games his very first season. They surrendered more points in league than they scored.
Good, great, grand, wonderful. Let's see how they bounce back in year 2!
They spiral further downward with a 3-9 record with, worse yet, a 1-7 conference record and finishing tied for last place in conference with perennial cellar dweller Northern Colorado. They lost to losing programs EWU, ISU, PSU and Cal Poly! Oh, and by the way they went 0-2 against UCD.
But yet here you are pretending that AT didn't get enough time and that the roster needed to be developed for eventual success?

Taylor's 3 rosters didn't need time to develop for success. And he's the one that inherited a perennial losing program, whereas AT inherited a proven winner. A 3-time conference champion. A roster fresh off a 12-1 campaign the season before. With the vast majority of the previous coaching staff returning. They lost a few key players, but the cupboard was mostly full.
How can you make such an embarrassing argument, with a straight face, and so defiantly? Seriously, SD, you're not an idiot. Not even close. But why you are choosing to die on this hill baffles me.
The results and facts are in. The two seasons under AT resembled more of the Sears era than Taylor era. All you've ever been able to hang your hat on is the 2023 postseason appearance and lone postseason win (which were a byproduct of Taylor's groundwork and brand recognition at that point to get the fortunate bid). So what else do you got?
Because I'll continue to point to the downward spiral from 12-1 to 8-5 to 3-9 (overall) and 8-0 to 4-4 to 1-7 (conference). 0-2 against UCD.
I'll also point to how noticaeably different AT's teams looked on both sides of the ball the past 2 seasons compared to how they looked the 3 seasons before. They lost to cellar dwellars they weren't losing to during their 3 year run as conference champs.
Lastly, I'll point to an 11-14 overall record and 5-11 conference record. After Taylor had gone 30-8 and 23-1 with that same staff and the vast majority of the same players. That's a STEEP drop off, and not something to be glossed over and ignored.
If Brennan Marion goes 11-14 and 5-11 in 2 seasons in the Big Sky/FCS, then, yes, I'll concede that he's probably not the right guy either. Difference would be, however, that Marion didn't inherit the same situation that AT did. Not even close.
Is there anyone else on this forum sharing your view that AT should have kept for another season? I don't know of one. And even AT recognizes that he deserve a 3rd season, which is why he voluntarily left!
Stop the madness already! It's time to move on!

I must say… The Taylor era really left a favorable position of those looking at Sac from the outside in and believing in what could be. We get a favorable playoff nod over Davis in ‘23 and after an abysmal 3-9 with a head coaching change we get someone giving us a #12 ranking (I know not official). Granted a positive coaching change and a strong recruiting/portal class… it just feels good to know that outside this board there are people out there seeing the Sleeping Giant that was woken a few seasons ago. Thanks TT.

Agree, and while this is not a cupcake schedule, there's a chance to win some games with this slate... Especially when there's only ONE road game between 9/6 and 11/1!

A match was certainly lit. TT proved what many of us believed all along.
Here's hoping that Coach Marion and the administration can take our Hornets to the next level. IMO so far, so good.
