I am sure that UND has a policy for dealing with scholarship students who run afoul of the law or have conduct that impacts the status of the University. I don't know what those policies might be, but I am sure that he will get full due process. Beyond that, there could be something coming from the team or athletic department. A non scholarship student would not be held to the same standard, but that is the nature of the beast.
I believe in second chances, but sometimes that becomes problematic. I don't know anything about the kid outside of what I see on the court. Also, we don't know much about the situation, other than he has been charged, but not yet convicted. For his sake, I hope that he can get the help he needs and can keep this from ruining his education and life.
I don't think it will have a huge effect on UND's basketball team. The loss of Hooker, Bernstien, and Shanks will have a far greater effect.
