We've updated the site to combine all the forums that were part of the Big Sky Fans Network into one location. This will make it easier to navigate and participate in all the discussions for each school without having to have multiple accounts, etc. We are still working out some tweaks but please let us know if you notice anything.

With the migration, in some circumstances, your username could have been merged with one of your other usernames from the other forums. If this is the case, you can request to change your username in your account details page of your profile.

Is the Big Sky the best conference?

One of the most debated topics between fans is which conference is the best. It’s time to look at all the teams in each of the five conferences listed and vote for who you think has the best conference at www.smebroadcasting.com.

Big Sky
Colonial
Gateway
Southern
Southland

Each of these conferences has their share of top 25 teams, but from top to bottom, which is the best. Post your comments here or send them to our feedback e-mail for your chance to take part in our July prize drawing.

Try to be unbiased.

While I would like to say that the Big Sky is the best conference, I think that the internal domination of the Montana teams has tended to overshadow the rest of the conference.

Even though other teams may be rated in the top 25, Montana and to some extent Montana State have always bet the higher rated teams and as such the Big Sky reps in the FCS championships.

My own personal feeling is that while we don't need parity in the conference, we do need another team to rise up to the same level and make this more than a one team conference. This may also be true of the other conferences so we may not be unique.

All that being said, I really don't know the other conferences as well as I know the Big Sky, so I will be the first to admit I am not qualified to make a selection without any bias. That I will leave to others.

Good luck, this is a toughie.

I think the "big sky" is up there, but I think the A-10 has the edge, and the Gateway is coming on stronger after the addition of NDSU. Also, the conference in which Appalachian State is in must be pretty good having also Furman and Wofford.

The A-10 is no longer called the A-10 for football, it is now the Coloniel Conference. Didn't know that unitil I was reading my Street and Smith magazine, which also stated the key game for San Diego St. was with PSU and that the Vikings were no push over. /users/31/07/37/smiles/eusa_cla.gif
