After today's embarrassing loss to the Wildcats, where do we stand with this idiot at head coach?? Is it time for him to go... I think it is. Will he be fired after the game next week or is Dunn going to be an idiot and wait...

I can't stand to watch these kids, this team, and this school struggle on the football field anymore.

With this... what do you guys think the time frame will be for him to be fired... and if he is.. who will Dunn bring in?

On a good note.. Dunn brought some money in for athletics by renaming the basketball arena Bank Of America Arena.. read it was around 1.5 million

I don't know where we stand but I can tell you one thing. You can tell who thinks Collins leaving is going to cost there kid playing time. They defend him on almost every post. This is rediculous they dont want the program to do well they just want their kids to stay on the field. Lets all be honest the staff needs to go and there are at least 7-10 kids recieving major playing time that shouldn't be on the field unless it is garbage time. stop the insanity and fire him now!!!!!!

Help Our Bears- which kids might you be referring to? I think most parents want these coaches gone, and I would imagine if one is posting online, it might be more of politics than you might think. Are you a parent? A former player? A fan? I am just curious about your background which is why I am asking...not being confrontational.....

'Erase the two fumbles that were guaranteed 14 points, now we're looking at a whole different game," Collins stated.' uncbears.com article Nov. 15, 2014 'Turnovers Cost Bears Road Game Against Weber State, 34-21'.

This is what the esteemed coach brought the loss down to....put it all on two players' shoulders. It's their fault. Basically he said, were it not for their fumbles, we would have won.

Let's look at this. One fumble was by a defensive player who INTERCEPTED THE BALL FROM THE OPPOSING TEAM'S OFFENSE. So, while it is always great when we have that happen, does our coach not know that the defense's job is usually to stop their offense, not to score....that is a bonus. So don't blame him.

Secondly, let's go back to the time we were 1st and goal at UC Davis, I believe. Then we were 2nd and goal. Then we were 3rd and goal. Still, no points. What did we do? We went for it. Guaranteed points? nope. They stopped us. No points. So there never are guaranteed points, and for the coach to go on record, especially on our own website and say those were "guaranteed 14 points" is a shame. That is utmost of poor leadership. Blame the kids instead of saying I did it. I led them wrong and I need to do a better job. Way to try to save your job. Way to throw kids under the bus. Did you even look back to see if they were ok when you did it? Is there even a regret for ever misleading kids, families, etc with the utter BS all along?

I am disgusted to even be associated with this program after reading that....and so should anyone else who had any involvement with UNC. He owes every single player on the team an apology. That is no leader. He is a coward, running in fear for his job. People should be standing up and screaming to have him removed immediately. This is a disgrace. What coach blames two kids for a loss?

What next? Start itemizing the fumbles, sacks, interceptions, missed tackles, etc. per game in a feeble attempt to write off every loss this year?

Enough....enough....enough....we have had enough of this and Norton or Dunn or somebody should stop this....he is harming the talent and leadership of this team all in a small minded attempt to save his skin. He doesn't even try to mask it anymore. It is plain as day. Plain as when he was screaming at the kids on the sidelines. How much louder does it have to get?

Well said...

As for anything Collins is a horrible coach, horrible leader, blames everything on the kids, he constantly makes everything about himself.. saving his job, keeping his family well fed and on and on. Collins is a cancer to UNC... We have the talent.. we do. But we need a REAL coach to take us where we want.

These kids hate playing for him.. hate being around him.. and to add to that want him gone! As we all do

Here we are, four years later. 1 missing RB coach who was demoted from operations and now has been dismissed from the team (2014). A fired defensive coordinator (2013), a demoted offensive coordinator to tight ends (2012) and a current offensive coordinator who was a below ave RMAC coordinator (2009-present) all of who originally arrived with Collins. Needless to say this genious idea was doomed from the start and these guys have been stealing for 4 years. Shall we cut bait? I vote yes.

Why isn't this more obvious to the powers the be?

He won't get fired... this AD is soft, I mean what AD comes into a struggling athletic department and starts handing out contract extensions to mediocre coahces and praising them? It's like the Colorado Rockies, Monfort mentality to athletic success...

Step off the ledge. He's only saying fumbles hurt our chances of winning. Nine out of ten coaches will say the same thing. I just read an article about my high school alma matter losing in the state playoff game, because they had several turnovers. Coach said almost exactly what Collins said. What he said, most coaches would say as well.

I am a parent. And my kid plays although the way he played the last three games his name would be onmy list to if I thought it was proper for me to call kids out by name. The only time I have used a kids name or number was a positive reference.

He has pointed the finger since the first game his first year. After the loss to Div 2 Lindenwood in which if you saw that game we were definitely out-coached making NO adjustments to what they were doing....Collins said, 'when I get my guys in here (meaning his recruits) we will win! I need guys that will buy into my program'... Do you guys remember the team motto and shirts the next year? Can I Trust You? This is what you have had as a HC since season one...He has and will never take accountability...unaccountability is not a trait of a successful leader in any genre. I have been saying this since the Lindenwood game.

Beardown, I would agree with you had those two turnovers been the only turnovers in the game and we had actually been close in points. Neither is true. We had 5 turnovers. Our defense was not on. Our QB was scrambling all over the place and while he may have had 300 yards or so, if he had actually been on target with his WRs, he could have had so many more yards than that- and he caused a couple of the TOs as well. The point is, it was a team effort.

As the saying goes, you win as a team, you lose as a team. That was my point. And, to have the coach try to shift the blame onto just two plays as the reason for the loss is irresponsible as a leader. It was a poorly played game. It was a poorly called game. 60 minutes of play does not ever come down to just one or two plays and when people start to point fingers, people should question that. Again, if we were playing and calling top notch, tough plays, and then it fell apart due to one or two things, that would be different, but everyone knows better. AND....most of all....Collins knows better.

Plus, show me a history where we have ever had 14 GUARANTEED POINTS THIS YEAR. We can't even take the field goal.

This is so true. No accountability since day 1. Lets just hope this idiot is gone after this weekend so I can go back to supporting my team.

Well if he is gone after the weekend... who are we looking at as canidates to take over after Collins is gone... Wristen from Pueblo? Stitt from mines? Or Kerr?

I thought Wristen and Stitt were both canadates last time around. I have heard / read of Wristens back ground before he was at CSUP and as an alumni not sure I would be to proud to support that. He has done some good things while at CSUP though but with all the negative press out there just not my cup of tea.

I just don't see the a.d. letting Collins go. He's got a new contract and from everything I've read in the papers, Dunn really likes Earnest. Now, I could see a scenario where Dunn demands that Collins makes changes to the coaching staff - like on the offensive side, and Collins refuses and perhaps quits.

I don't think Dunn has a choice. I think that all of us boosters are fed up to the max and boosters will be demanding change. We have seen enough !!
!! I hate to have to say this but I for one am not spending another buck on this program unless there is a change !!

Agree, I don't see how Dunn has a choice. The major boosters are not going to continue to support this program if Collins is not released and making changes to the coaching staff won't be enough to appease most. I'm with BearDevil39, I am done supporting this program unless a change is made at the top. I will attend this week's game to support the seniors playing their last home game, but that will be it for me unless Collins is fired.

Not to mention recruiting has to be at a near stand still. What type of talent will be interested in coming to play for a coach with his record? I've talked to a local high school coach last night and he told me that UNC is not remotely of interest for his players. He said he would steer his kids towards CSU-P or out of state schools before recommending UNC. I was also recently told a story of another local kid, a pretty good prospect, who literally blew off the UNC coach when he attended a recent game. Why would any good local prospect consider UNC over CSU-P at this point? They might be able to fool some out of state prospects in this cycle, but the Colorado kids are going to choose other schools. And with the exception of possibly the top tier, it takes a large contingent of local prospects to build the core of any FCS team.

This program is dead in the water if Collins continues to be the captain of the ship.

I know numerous kids who have chose CSU-P over UNC. And one who was offered a full ride at UNC but decided to walk on to CSU. I mean obviously Coach McElwain is 1000 times better than Collins, but it just goes to show.

If Collins is back for next year, I will not attend a game until he is fired, and as an alunmi it is totally embarrassing. But best of luck to the men's bball team!

McElwain is at CSU - Ft. Collins. He is being rumored as a candidate for the Florida Gators job.
