Had a great time Monday night at the season ending awards banquet for the team held at the Juniper Hills Country Club.
A very good crowd was on hand for it. All the players were there and it never fails to shock me how different they look out of uniform and out of sweats!
Because the Bennion Banquet is Tuesday night I won't reveal who won the awards, that will be announced again at the Bennion function but I will say the winners were well deserved.
Nice touches this year included as part of the continuous picture loop that runs before and during dinner, the staff getting baby and childrens pictures of the players from their parents and Seton having the seniors give their thoughts for a few minutes on their time at ISU.
With all the success for the program the last few years, to see these five young women leave was hard for everyone. Abyee, Jessa and Kayla all got emotional at various times during their talking to the fans, Ash was very cool and in control (typical Ash! LOL) but you got the sense the impact of things also was in the back of her mind.
There's no question the seniors will all have success in life, they are truly remarkable young women. Taylor has already accepted a position as an assistant coach at her junior college in Kansas, Kayla will be headed to a career in nursing back home in Arizona, Abyee will be student teaching in Poky next year, Jessa will be student teaching in her hometown in Utah and it looks like Ash is going to go into a coaching career at some point although for right now she is still deciding on if she wants to return home and play professionally or stay in the area and get her masters at ISU.
It was just a great way for these players to end their time as part of a tremendously successful program the last few years under Seton and his staff.
